Hey all,
I live north of Atlanta, GA.
Had a very successful Zoysia lawn over the past several years in Georgia. At the end of last summer, it was so hot and dry that some spots got fried. I expected to have them bounce back, but they've actually gotten worse.
I have fertilized one time in May. I also put down humic acid in May. Thought those may be the cause, but the rest of the yard has thrived. This is a westward facing slope. So, fungus or critters?! Any input is appreciated. What are your thoughts?!
Pictures were taken after a recent rain and the "burned" outline seems accentuated. I did drop fungicide today, prior to the rain.

Looks like army worms. The damaged grass is notably shorter than the adjacent grass because it’s being eaten. It’s quick and easy to validate this theory. Get a trowel and dig just below the surface. If there are any army worms there, they won’t be hard to locate.
