Students and lecturers have joined dozens of volunteers to take part in this year’s Brierley Hill in Bloom, planting hundreds of flowers and plants to make their region as pretty as possible.

The event, which is organised by the Brierley Hill Community Forum, and has returned for its 11th year, brings the Brierley Hill community together to plant various flowers and shurbs in the town to make their region a little brighter.

The event returned this year, seeing scores of volunteers trek around Brierley Hill, planting beautiful flowers to add a bit of life to the town for all to enjoy.

For this year’s event, SEND students from the Dudley College of Technology joined the volunteers, helping to plant seasonal displays for the town.

Rose Golding, a horticulture and conservation lecturer at Dudley College of Technology, said: “I tutor some of the young people with special needs, and we have been working in Brierley Hill town centre to plant the seasonal displays for Brierley Hill in Bloom.

“The students have worked really hard on these displays, they’ve done all the hard work and they really deserve all the credit. It all looks fantastic, we are all really proud of what we have done.”

The plants will be on show for all to see, with the main stretch of flowers on the High Street.

Brierley Hill Community Forum, Chairman, Tim Sunter, said: “It’s the 11th year that we have been running the event.

“We partnered with Dudley College, and we are in so much admiration of the students, we are enormously grateful. It’s the perfect example of the community working together. A win for the community, the town and the college.”

Everyone has been invited to visit the town and enjoy the displays.
