I'm quite sure i've let this get a bit overgrown, beautiful though it is.

Should i cut this now, or is it better to wait until the end of Summer? or another time of year?

Thanks in advance.

"A red, red rose" by Robert Burns

O my Luve’s like a red, red rose,
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve’s like the melodie
That’s sweetly play’d in tune.

As fair are thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my Dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve!
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile!

  1. Don’t cut it now. Prune it in late winter or early spring.

    That is awesome , finest post I happily doom scrolled into today. (“david austen roses” on You Tube offers good advice and film on sorting these well established climbing / rambling roses)

    Just wanted to say that is gorgeous

  4. I’ve now got UB40’s Red Red Wine going through my brain. I hope that was your intention.

    Your roses are beautiful too, but omg I love that song!
