I only grew in containers. I have about 500+- plants in various sized terracotta and decorative pots as well as 57 Earth Boxes. I love the fact that I can move them around and rearrange at will or follow the lighting conditions. We live in humid, hot tropical Bradenton, Florida, which is next to Sarasota as much as I hate the weather, the plants thrive.
In a previous video you got mediocre results with fox farms lol. I do everything with my organic miracle gro and my container patio garden is popping off just fine.
In that same video the organic miracle gro came in like 2nd place so it worked great for yall too!
The total cost of a container with fox farms well our weighs the benefits. Yes, you can use containers, and you can use a degree of potting soil on the top, but you don't need expensive grow bags and soil. For 5 years now I've been using large plastic laundry baskets from Walmart ($5 each in 2020) filled with normal soil topped off with potting mix and manure. They work great, although after 5 years they have become brittle due to sun damage, but at $1 per year the price can't be beat.
I never use expensive potting soil. Id be interested to see a comparison on results from both. I just grab nice looking dirt off the ground and always get good results
Ok but to be self sustainable you do need quite a bit of land to grow in. It depends on what you are growing. You want to eat grains? You need space. You ever look at how many bean plants it takes to make a whole pot of bean for a family?

I like to mix up my home potting soil It's a lot less expensive. Pearlite, compost, earthworm castings, vermiculite, coco
Thank you!! I live in an apartment so I have only a narrow balcony. Could you suggest some plants to grow?

Having made clay in the past, the clay actually settles to the top, all the rocks settle to the bottom along with alot of heavy minerals

Get ripped off for soil. After my first session with Fox Farm I realized how much easier and cheaper it is to make my own.
Coast of Maine and Roots Organic are the goated soils and super soils

I use half ground soil and half potting soil. Works well
