My husband was pushing her around the yard in her toy truck and I guess she spotted this and snagged it on the way by. Northeastern Penstemon! I'm bummed that she picked it but I'm excited they're coming up, it's from the part of the yard we seeded with natives a couple of years ago. I get so excited when we find new natives on the property.
The best part might be when I asked here where it came from and she said "the ground!" 🤣 thanks, dude. Further questioning resulted in "the dirt" and "over there" with a vague waving of the arm.

I would be sad that she picked it too! Hopefully the roots are well established
Might be able to slice it up into two inch chunks and start them back up with root growth hormone.
This looks like Penstemon hirsutus to me (Hairy beardtongue). Look at those hairs all along the stem.
These are some of my favorite flowers. I bought some years ago and now I’ve got clumps growing all over the place. They are the fairy princesses of my garden.
