Bought a house last year. First think I did was rip up the front lawn. Planted ice ballet milkweed, transplanted sensitive fern from the side yard, woodland aster, woodland phlox, columbine, and foam flower. This year I tore up the side front lawn and planted bee balm, partridge pea, fennel, parsley, joe pye, yarrow, rattlesnake master, Pennsylvania sedge, potted marshmallow and spice bush. I would love to get rid of the azaleas, but husband likes them and it’s a compromise for getting rid of lawn. Next year going to work on the backyard with more meadow. Last year the ice ballet milkweed got 15 monarch caterpillars, hoping to see more this year!
