Home Grown Brixton at Myatts Corner Café is hosting a South London community Book Garden pop-up – starting tomorrow (6 June).
It is run by Bluestocking Books and offers a selection affordable second-hand books carefully chosen for the venue.
The Book Garden pop-up is open from 10am to 3pm from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 June and from Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 June.
Ruby’s Reads – who curate multicultural children’s books – will be at the pop-up on 13 June.
The Book Garden has appeared at various locations near Brixton, including the Platform Café at Loughborough Junction, The Remakery on Lilford Road and Camberwell Green market.
It popped up at the Myatts Field Centre in September last year, when 125 books found new homes with local readers.
Bluestocking says additional locations for its Book Garden pop-ups would be welcome, particularly theatres and art spaces.
Home Grown Brixton use locally sourced ingredients from Brixton vendors to create stylish seasonal menus. Services include food drop-off, self-service, and a variety of dishes, ranging from canapes to full meals are available.
