Residents and businesses across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are being urged to consider entering the town’s annual Burnham In Bloom flower competition as organisers say its future is at risk.
This year’s Burnham In Bloom competition has sixteen categories for locals to enter, ranging from best front garden to best decorated shop window. Entry forms are available online here and can be submitted until June 30th.

Organiser Dave Perrett said this week: “The competition has been running for many years  and encourages residents and businesses to add summer colour to the town every summer ahead of judging in July.”

“Sadly this year we’ve only received a handful of entries so far, which is well down on previous years. If we don’t see more entries, it’s at risk of not going ahead which would be a shame.”

He hopes residents will step up their efforts with private displays ahead of judging later in the summer and stresses that while Burnham is not entering the regional South West In Bloom contest this year, it is holding the Burnham In Bloom local competition.

“We need residents and businesses to help us by getting involved and enhancing the town with floral displays during the summer season for the benefit of residents and visitors.”

“Anyone can enter, free of charge – whether you have a large or small garden.”

Trophies and certificates will be presented to the winners later in the autumn.
