First time applying topsoil myself. Did I overdo it? Does new seed stand a chance? What will happen if there’s too much topsoil?

all good, seedlings will “shoot” through the soil no problem.

I think you’ll be good should fill in keep that seed moist also depends on how much seed you put more soil more seed

Keep the soil moist… And lightly run a rake over it every couple of days and u should be fine. Don’t walk over it if you can this will prevent compacting the soil

  4. It’s hard to tell if your soil is burying existing grass blades because of the soil on top. If you seeded liberally enough and you have the patience to stay off the lawn just wait for the new seed to grow in and you’ll be fine.

Keep it moist at all times, don’t let it dry out.

Looks good. If you can get some clean dry straw, adding a thin layer will help keep birds away, protect against heavy rain/runoff, and retain moisture overall… As it grows, the straw just breaks down with mowing…

I don’t think you overdid it, it looks like you just did it. Looks great, and will look even better in a few weeks!
