A writer and broadcaster is leading a project to transform the gardens at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood after receiving treatment at the centre.
Matthew Biggs, known for his appearances on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time, was motivated to improve the gardens after finding it offered “little inspiration as a healing garden”.
He is working alongside a host of garden experts to put together the design, and the gardens will be constructed by Mark Gregory of Landform Consultants, a company which has won multiple gold medal and Best in Show medals at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Matthew said: “I have made it my mission to turn the outdoor spaces around the treatment centre and chemotherapy unit into a healing garden which will bring the local community together.”
Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Charity has launched a fundraising appeal to help provide the resources for the garden makeover. To donate, please visit www.shorturl.at/fHkzS
