I’ve found that some of the easiest ways to garden is container gardening for your small spaces. Anyone could do it #gardening
Today I will be showing you guys how I plant my potatoes. So I’mma plant some potatoes. And I know you already know that I have plenty potatoes planted if you seen any of my videos. But of course I’m planning for somebody else. My sister who acting like she can’t do it. She she don’t know what to do. And I wanted to show her it’s very very simple. It’s very simple. So, I’mma just do um one and I’mma just do this video showing y’all how to do that. Then I’m also going to plant my cabbage plant and I’ll be playing um some peppers and I’ll just show you all how I do [Music] it. All [Music] right. So, I’mma go ahead and try to get this bucket filled up really fast for you guys. Like I said, we going to do the potatoes first. So, what we do is we just filling it up about 4 in. These are the potatoes. You go right to your local Walmart, uh, Home Depot, everybody sell them. Rule King, they just see the potatoes. They have different kind. Yukon, Gold Rush, red potatoes, any kind you want. So, like I said, so the potatoes pretty much, as you can see, that’s why they call them seed potato. Now, it’s possible, y’all already got those right in your own house. See, and you know, we used to just throw these away, but you don’t have to throw them away. You’re going to plant them in a five gallallon bucket. And I didn’t tell you, but on this five gallon bucket, it’s already pre-drilled. My husband pre-drill holes in all of the buckets. She must have those holes in there so it can drain. Okay. Already put um the dirt inside of here up 4 in. It’s about right about there. Okay. And now what I’mma do is bone meal. Don’t ask me why I have to put bone meal. This is just what I learned. I’m a kindergarten. I can’t answer that for you. Okay. So, I learned that. Honestly, I wanted to get this other stuff. some kind of two birth fertilizer so I can use that. But anyway, this is bone meal. Don’t cost that much. You can catch it for $8 at your local Walmart or something. We sprinkling bone meal inside of the bucket. You mixing it in your soil. Okay, you just going to mix it in your soil. I want to say it’s something like got a lot of phosphorus in it, but those words are too big for me because I’m a kindergartener. So, here you go. sprout side up. Okay, we going to put one on one side and one on the other side of the bucket. Okay, that’s what we’ll do. Okay. And it’s simple as this. One, two, three. We going to go ahead and fill the bucket back up for another four inches, I mean, of soil. Okay. And we’re not going to fill the bucket all the way up, but we going to fill it up enough that once you start seeing once you start seeing it begin to grow the plant part of it, I can show you how it’ll start actually coming up. Give me one moment that I started not long ago with a actual I put a little diagram on here. But if you can see they start coming up. Okay. Once they start coming up is when you going to start covering this back up with dirt up. You going to put dirt on there. And it kind of get b right here at the top. And once it start getting up high actually I need to put more dirt in here my own self. And that’s just so you can encourage it to keep growing tubers, potatoes at the bottom of where they growing. That way you just encourage it to keep growing, please. I need more potatoes, please. But eventually putting leaves in there. Okay. You kind of want your leaves to be mulch, honestly. And then they call that healing the plant. Healing. I don’t know why they call it that, but we healing the plant. And we’re just putting It’s gonna help keep the soil cool. I know that’s one thing, one reason why they say do it. So, okay, that’s what that is. So, we got our potatoes planted. I planted this for my sister. Next time, I guess she’ll be able to plant her own. Okay. Mine is growing. And just to let you know really what the next step is, it’s going to keep growing tall, tall, tall. Okay. Now, what they say is as it’s growing, eventually your leaves, your foliage will die over. That is your sign that your potatoes already in the dirt. Okay? But they say try to leave it in there probably about 2 weeks after your foliage die over. Okay? So, I haven’t got that far yet. What I want to do is to stop buying potatoes. I want to grow my own. Okay? So, that’s a simple and easy way. Take your potatoes right out the kitchen, do what I just showed you, and hopefully you don’t have to go to the grocery store no more. Okay? So, they already done told us now. They didn’t told us. Ain’t no need us waiting till it happen. So, you can go and start your stuff now. They told us on the news the other day in a couple of weeks, it’s possible some of the shelves at the grocery store, it’s going to be empty. They already had that talk with y’all president. So, okay, that’s it. That’s all for the potatoes. Okay, my next thing is I already got my bucket, pre-drilled holes, my cabbage plant that I told y’all about that my cousin gave me. Okay, go ahead and get some dirt inside of this bucket. We already filled this up with our soil. Okay. So, what I’mma do is I go ahead and put a little bone meal in it. I don’t really know how much bone meal to put in there. But act like you flouring a piece of chicken, okay? You know how we don’t we don’t we don’t try to figure all of that out at home. We just mix it in. I just want to make this soil rich and give it something that it like. Okay. So, here’s my cabbage plant, and I’m going to go ahead and place it inside of the soil. Okay, I’ll probably stick the palm all the way down to like the middle palm of my hand, and then place it in about the so inch deep of the actual plant. Here’s how the cabbage plant look. So, I have it actually planted in a 2gallon bucket because it’s a shallow root plant. This is why I kind of cheated when I went to Home Depot and bought me some seedlings even though this one was given to me. But that is why I did go. I got peppers in there growing in my garage right now that I’m starting from seed. Matter of fact, I want to show y’all really fast some of the same peppers. Even though I bought actual pepper plants from the big box store, I just wanted to show you guys that I am growing seedlings. But the reason I cheated is because mine is behind and there’s already growing and I’m ready to go ahead and get mine going. Like I might be a good I’ll say 3 weeks and maybe even possibly a month behind. So that is the reason why I decided to cheat and go and get seedlings. Okay, let’s go ahead and get this um planted this pepper. Okay, got my five gallon bucket. If you don’t figure out a way to stretch your soil, it’s going to be expensive. We got that filled up. We’re going to go ahead throw some bone meal inside of there. this rain water. And I’m just doing this so you can kind of run that bone meal on through there. Do is go ahead and dig a little hole. I’mma come up just a little bit than this because I’mma put a little more dirt in the inside. more dirt in it to kind of come around it, but just around it. Okay, I’m going grab me some bamboo sticks to stick around it so we can kind of cage it in. Okay, I have these tomato cages because once it start growing, of course, those peppers are going to be strong and heavy. So, we’ll put that in there so we can have something to kind of hang them on that they can hold so it just don’t make the foliage fall over. Okay. So, that’s pretty much it other than it’s going to top dress it around the side with a little more bone meal. Now, I heard that you could put blood meal in there. And the reason why they said that helps the foliage um pretty green, lush um plants, leaves on it. Okay. So, all right. I tried this last year. I didn’t know none of this. All I did was put me some peppers in um I didn’t even put them in a container. I tried to put them in like the uh a bed that I had made that had holes in the bottom and I did. I think I got like two bell peppers that was really small. I went out of town a couple times. I pulled one off. It just didn’t make it. I just put it like that. But I didn’t have all the thought into it like I do this year. So that’s what that is. Okay. So, let me get this on out the way. Okay, this just like some tomato food. So, I’mma take some of this handful. I’mma mix it in. Just mixing it in my soil. Just mixing it in my soil. Okay, just mixing it in. And I’mma tell y’all to make sure you read exactly how much. But a lot of times when I be watching these teachers or somebody tell me, they be like, “Put a handful in.” So they talk like you you they talking kitchen talk. So when they talk kitchen talk, that’s what I’m thinking. Just like we do in the kitchen when we seasoning. So this is a small frued tomato called Baby Boomers. Okay. So I dig me little hole in there. You see? So I can go ahead. I figure that’s about how deep. You know, you can take your I see some people take they plant while it’s still in there and go through it just like that. So I go ahead. I’m going to go on and put that inside and get him buried. Kind of press down and get them air pockets out from around my tomato plant. And voila. Going to get the seedlings from the store. That’s a quick simple thing. Go and get your seedlings from the store. I love it. And I don’t want to be that gardener, but I’m going to be that gardener sometimes. Here’s my tomato cage. I’mma go ahead and put that down there. That way I can start growing my tomatoes. This should be strong enough to hold it. Okay, I’mma do it like that. That what we have lost that we have let fall by the wayside. The art of growing our own food that our grandparents and great-grandparents did. We got to get back to that. We got to get back to it. It It’s It’s a possibility that there is no store to go to in our future. One thing that I know is, and this is just something that I tell my kids all the time, we ain’t going to make that Bible out a lot. If it say it’s going to be a famine in the land, whether it’s in my day or the kids’ day, it’s coming. So, let’s just try to prepare now. things just a little too shaky for me right now that they got going on, you know, with y’all president in there. It’s just too shaky. I’m sorry. Get you a seed in the ground. That’s all I can say. I mean, and if you go ahead and start if like they saying on the next couple weeks, it’s possible it might not be things in the store. They not saying food or what it is. They just was saying on the news they had a meeting with your president and it’s possible that some of the shelves is going to be empty. Prepare. Prepare for your own house so you can feed your own family. Okay? Just prepare. And that’s just what I how I feel about that. Grow you some food. Grow you some food. And if you don’t do nothing but know how to grow it, that’s a good thing, too. Even if you haven’t, but I want to know, what are y’all growing? Yeah. If y’all watching this channel, what are you growing? I want to know. You know, are you preparing? Put it in the comments. Tell me what you growing. What you know I you love to eat. So you can have that for your family. Like I told y’all, potatoes, lettuce, onions. This the stuff that I know that I love because I can eat me a salad. I can eat me some potatoes. Okay. Cabbage. Y’all just saw me put cabbage in a pot. Cabbage. This the kind of things, you know, just get what you like to eat. And I ain’t gonna say I’m not going to plant some things because um somebody was asking me, am I going to grow okra? I don’t eat okra. But I might try to grow it just to know how. I get done trying to learn how to plant and do my garden and stuff. I do want to learn about jorn, how to preserve stuff. My grandmama always talked about how they used to have peaches preserved and um different, you know, fruits and stuff like that. That’s a good thing to know. Okay. Lost something we don’t have anymore. Some of us, some of us, because it’s been too convenient for us that we could go to the store and get what our grandparents grew and they done found a way to make money from us to Hey, you don’t have to grow it. You don’t have to grow it. You could just come and buy it. We didn’t been tricked. We didn’t been bamboozled. Anyway, that’s everything I pretty much got for today. Oh, um, I did find some garden finds. I can pick up little cheap things sometimes. But these are little plant tables. I paid $5 from Family Dollars. I know everybody should have a Family Dollar. My mint plant. That’s what I bought it for. Look at her. That’s cute. I think that is really cute. So, a $5 planter table that you can sit your plants on right from Family Dollar. That was my goen find of the day. And I also, oh yeah, I forgot to show you all. So when I went back today, this three days in a row I went back to Home Depot cuz I wanted to get me another seedling. I goes back and I saw these. I had to decide lavender plant, strawberry plant, lavender plant, strawberry plant. I was confused, but the lavender plant was smelling so good. And I heard that it’s good for the garden. I chose the lavender plant yesterday that they said you can keep it in this pot. It’ll thrive in this pot. So, that’s what I ended up getting just to go back today. And it was $12 and something. But guess what else was strawberry plant? I do. I told you temptation is real. Bought two. I had to to hang up. Got a lot of strawberries on that one. You You see that? It’s already running. So, I mean, go out to your big box store, the orange store, and grab these. Some of them are 12. They are in my area. They are in my area. So, this is the video for today. I planted the potato plant, the cabbage plant, and a pepper plant. And I also did the um tomato um plant. So, I got those seedlings going. I’ll show you as they progressing. Like the video, comment, and don’t forget to subscribe. Okay, I do reach back out to everybody that sends me a comment. I appreciate all of you all for sticking around, watching the video. I’ll see you guys on the next video. Remember, I am the kindergartenner. Plant yourself where you can grow.

I bought seeds and trying to grow romaine, bell peppers, tomatoes, onion, and marigolds. If anything goes, I'll be happy. I'm new to this journey
Thank you so much for sharing what you are learning and giving the reasons why you do certain things. I'm just starting to grow my own and planning for the future. I just started growing herbs so far. I will be planting cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and potatoes. I also dry herbs and other produce, make my own seasoning mixes etc. I didn't really know why I had a passion for going to the basics and preparing my own for consumption now I realize what I was being prepared for. Preparing for the fulfillment of the Gospel. I have people asking me about different things they should stock up or how to do certain things (just in case). All I can say is we better get it right and start listening more than talking. BTW, if we not paying attention, the shelves are already coming up bare. Thank you again. Sending love and prayers to you and your family.
My bf bought a house with 2 plant beds that he wasn’t going to do nothing with. We’re both vegetarian & I decided I wanted to try & grow something. Appreciate the tutorial!
I’m your kindergarten classmate. I’m planting okra, zucchini, squash, Roma, tomatoes, garlic, onions, cabbage, sweet peas, green beans, dill, rosemary, basil, chives, mustard, turnip, kale, collard, greens, peanuts, lettuce, cucumbers, brussels sprouts Are all the plants that I have planted this year and appear to be thriving. This is my first year with such a diverse garden. I am planting on my deck and within the yard. I’m using grow pots, flower pots, and of course directly into the ground. It was a pleasure watching your video and I look forward to seeing what else you do this summer.

Hello; new subscriber. Blessings.
As of 5.25.2025. I'm a new follower, and I will spend today after church watching your videos.
New Subscriber here. I’m officially a Kindergardener 😂 Thanks for the inspiration especially since I didn’t think to utilize my garage space. You made this look easy so I’m looking forward to trying my hands with everything. ❤

I’m so happy I found your channel, I’m going to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, and I would love to plant strawberries and some sunflower seeds
I’m also going to plant salad any suggestions on what kind of soil I should use? I’m gonna start with organic flower seeds. Do you know of any organic soil? That’s good ?
So glad I found your channel!
Love it!! 🙌🏾 I’m learning and growing avocados, grapes, sweet potatoes, a cantaloupe, a watermelon, three types of mint, lemon balm, both parsleys, cilantro, cucumbers, tomatoes (I don’t eat them but want to learn how to grow them), zucchini, bell peppers, basil, blueberries, lavender, chili peppers, strawberries, jalapeños and green peas all on my front porch.
I am enjoying the process and the growth (mine and the plants’). 🙂
And I am glad that I started learning because their “president” is out of control. City homesteading is the plan.
I just listened to your video! I usually don’t listen to an almost 20 minute video but you captured my attention. I started a container garden last year after friends from my local farm where I attended a 10 month program in 2023 strongly encouraged me to garden at home even though I didn’t have the space so I’m learned about growing in containers. Everything that I’ve planted doesn’t always produce a harvest but I’m gonna keep trying. My squash is the throne in my side right now tho! 😢 I mean I have 4 plants and all they do is bloom a pretty flower, I want to see a squash soon!!!
You asked what were growing…I’m growing collards, kale, peppers, 3 variety of tomatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, cilantro, basil, lavender and strawberries too. My cucumber seedlings died. I don’t know what I did to them 😢
I'd like to start growing, but I feel like I'm starting too late since it's almost summer already and I don't even know what I'm doing. 🧐
This is my first year growing vegetables. I started out with a hydroponic system I asked my son to buy me for Mother's Day. I then bought another indoor seed starting kit from The Home Depot. I now have seedlings of spinach, kale, buttercrunch, arugula, romaine, mini sweet peppers, watermelon, mini cucumbers, and snap peas. I bought an already established cherry tomato plant from the orange store. I'm going back there and get me two of those strawberry planters you have! Thanks for all your tips! I'm going to try potatoes next. You have inspired me. New subscriber here! 🫶🏾🙌🏾👏🏾
Great video. I love seeing how others do things.
We started during the pandemic and never stopped.. Got lots of things growing now (fruit trees, veggies, herbs, potatoes). Installed some rain barrels, even a DRIP system the kids got me for fathers' day last year.
Made lots of mistakes along the way. Also learned a lot.
I just love waking up in the morning and going out there to see how things are growing. I run home after work to be out there.
Keep up the good work.

New subscriber here, great video! …very informative!
Love this! I recently planted cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers but have no clue as to what I’m doing!
You should come around and host a one week class in my city
Determinate potatoes don’t need to be hilled. Only indeterminate
Watching on the replay. I’m currently growing tomatoes, green peppers, thyme, basil and Scott bonnet peppers. I’m in pre school. Didn’t make it to kindergarten yet.
Thank you! New follower 😊
What potting mix was used with the happy frog
May God truly bless you abundantly! You have heard what's being said about lack of food and that which is to come and you are moving with wisdom, which can only come from God. We are not only to prepare physically however, Spiritually as well. We are truly living in some perilous times and things are just going to get worse. The time now is to prepare for our Lord for as our great grandparents spoke during their time, the Lord is soon to return and when you see the things that's taking place in the world and compare it with Bible prophecy, He will return in this generation.
Blessings
73 yo and loving what my momma taught me; you go girl!!! Back to the Bible, back to the basics HalleluYAh!😂
Great video very helpful ❤

I'm doing container gardening on my balcony, and I'm doing a variety of tomatoes and pepper plants. Some Basil, Rosemary and oregano. Some 7 top turnips, Georgia and giant red mustard greens. This will be my 2nd year doing container/ patio gardening. Thanks for all of your planting ideas. And yes, WE need to start doing for ourselves. I'm 70 with health issues but it's so rewarding and therapeutic. To taste what you harvested yourself is so rewarding. Mmmmm
