We moved in early 2024 after the previous owner had to dig up the front yard to redo the leach field (first pic). I saw it as an opportunity to plant a native meadow, and it’s coming along nicely! I planted oxeye daisy, coneflower, rudbeckia, side-oats grama, and others that I don’t think took (I’m bummed about the big bluestem that didn’t take).

If you see mugwort, no you didn’t 😅
I’m working on eradicating it, but we live on a state route with tons of mugwort around, so I have a feeling it’ll be an ongoing battle.

The red and white clovers are enthusiastic volunteers that I’ve let stay since they aren’t invasive 😊

The lawn is GONE!! Looks great.

Try your seeds in planters first? I like that extra insurance of starting my seeds in a controlled environment.

I smile with so much glee every time I see a native meadow planted by one of my neighbors in place of a lawn. Kudos to you!! This is gorgeous.

  5. Are you in the US? I thought oxeye daisy was considered an invasive here.
