Nothing says I hate my neighbors and myself like planting bamboo.

This reads so weird with the caption, too. Like… wow. Bambooplants.ca carries bamboo? NEVER saw that coming!

God I hope they only carry clump forming species at least

This kind of shit is why I have gardening NVGs for spraying herbicide at night

Although, we do have native bamboo in the Northeast and central US, it is called Arundinaria. It’s a plant that was extremely abundant in lowlands and by rivers. Though, harder to find now to do destruction of habitat for agricultural needs

The thing is, bamboo is really cool and there are cool varieties, but we have to really push for cool and beneficial. Trying to convince the general population to plant natives instead of barberry or gold mop is like trying to convince people to not buy the latest Stanley mug or cooler. Just such an uphill battle

And these ads are supposed to be personalized. For something that is supposed to know me so well, it sure does suck at it’s job.

we DO have native bamboo but I totally agree. We should not be planting Asian bamboo

My area in southern Appalachia does have native bamboo, yet some folks still buy and plant non-native varietals.

I have some neighbors that I should gift this too. Fortunately for me there’s concrete dividing our properties.

6b Ohio – I was at the the local greenhouse the other day and overheard a man actually ASK, “Where is your bamboo?”
My wife held me back.

What gets me is the “we don’t just have all of these non problematic plants, we’ve also got bamboo!” Which would be fine except you’re bamboo plants??? So of course you’d have bamboo??? Like what kind of dumb ad is this? Lowkey it must be ai or something.

I lived in the mountains in South Carolina, I wouldn’t say ‘bamboo forests’ but there were certainly… bamboo woods. All over the place. Dunno if that out my specific location or not, but you could look at the mountain paths on one side of the road and see a sea of bamboo, and on the other, green rolling hills of kudzu.
