The benefits to being the crazy garden person on the street are immeasurable. Let me give you this great example. I saw a neighbor. She was walking down the street. We got chatting and then I noticed she had a bag and in the bag was a plant. And I said, “What you got there?” And she said, “Blood root.” And I said, “I’ve been wanting bloodroot.” She said she’s going to dig me up some. And I said, “No rush.” 3 minutes later, knock on my door. She just showed up with this raw dogged just the soil in her bare hands and gave it to me in my bare hands and it’s a double blood root and I said it’s poisonous and she went it is huh and I said thank you and she left I love

  1. I love humanity. It feels to good to give and to receive acts of kindness and love. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Love it!!
Had a little old lady across the street where I lived. And she loved some plants In my yard so I did the same as your neighbor did for you.
Took it to her and 5 minutes later she came over with a red cup full of something from her garden. Never asked but she said as lovers of gardening you never receive a plant without giving a loved plant from your garden.

  3. As a person whose relatives were farmers, I acquired a friendship with neighbours because of just merely walking around the block when I was 11, seeing a home I always admired the garden of and my grand uncle and grand auntie saw the owner in her garden and they commented on her garden and tomatoes.. and this was the first time I can remember how normal people converse, common ground and authenticity; or at least this is MY "normal" people who have common ground and commitment to things want share. Some say this impulse is childlike but we build community on initiative.😊
