GREAT BARRINGTON, MA (WRGB) – Cell-phone video shows a woman confronting masked ICE agents in Great Barrington, Massachusetts Friday as they detained an undocumented gardener on the job.
The woman, one of two concerned business owners who saw what was happening, can be heard asking the agents for identification. A masked agent replies, “we don’t need to give you ID.”
The woman then asks, “how do we know you’re federal?” The agent replies, “call local.”
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement later reportedly told CNN the man was from Colombia and was in the county illegally. ICE said the agents were looking for someone who was a drunk driver.
The woman who recorded the video said the man who was detained does not drive, does not own a car, and uses only a bicycle to get around.
