Volunteers at a popular Bristol park have hit out at antisocial behaviour after plants were stolen from its sensory garden.
The Friends of Page Park in Staple Hill on the outskirts of the city have put out an appeal following the thefts.
A spokesperson for the group said an acer plant, a magnolia plant and a hydrangea have recently been taken from the park’s sensory garden.
They added that the thefts and antisocial behaviour have all been reported to the police and they asked anyone with any information about the stolen plants to come forward.
In an appeal shared on Facebook The Friends of Page Park wrote: “We are sorry to report that someone is stealing plants from our park.
“Most of the plants in the park have been bought by the Friends of Page Park who have been supported by our community through kind and generous donations and from the proceeds of our plant sales.
“Recently we have lost an acer and magnolia from opposite the new toilet block and a hydrangea from the sensory garden.
“We report all incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour in the park to the police.
“The only people who would be removing any plants in the park are our volunteer gardeners and the ground staff, so if you see anyone else doing this then please report to the Police.
“If a crime is in progress or in an emergency please always call 999. It’s sad that someone thinks this is acceptable.”
Anyone with any information about the theft of the plants has been asked to contact the police on 101 or online here and quote crime reference number 5225150366.
