If you’ve ever killed a potted plant (and honestly, who hasn’t?), this video is for you. I’m breaking down the 20 most common container gardening mistakes that I’ve made and seen my clients make.

Whether you’re growing in a few pots on an apartment balcony or planning on starting small with your garden, watch this video before you plant one more thing.

This video is NOT meant to discourage you from growing in containers. Container gardening is a fast and easy way to start growing. But I do hope to save you some of the frustration (and the fails) that I’ve experienced over the years. Tell me in the comments below which of these mistakes you’d like me to show you how to fix in another video.

  1. No chance of burning plants if you use Biotone organic fertilizer. I feed mine once per week in the summer.

  2. Yes, please do more videos on container gardening! I have a small backyard. Containers are all I’ve got! I have tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers and zucchini going. First timer. I’m very nervous & need all the help I can get 😅

  3. Also—how do you feel about “self-watering” containers? I will travel a few times this summer, I thought this would be a good choice. But now that you’ve mentioned root rot in the video, I’m second guessing my decision!! Ugh!

  4. I’ve made at least 5 of these mistakes this year! Videos on how to fix problems in container gardens would be super helpful. Thanks in advance.

  5. I disagree with a lot of what you're saying. The only thing I agree with is your comment on traveling. My container garden is beautiful. Water, sunshine, spray for pest and fertilize, and yes, keeping your eye on your plant has helped me raise a lovely garden.

  6. I have 4 herbs in my kitchen window sill. I'm not sure how this video applies or what changes i should make now. Should there be more than one herb per pot? Are worm castings enough food since they're always there? Is there a video about indoor container gardening? Great info for my outside planters!!! Glad i found this video!

  7. You've answered EVERY concern I've had and experienced for my first time gardening. I had good growth, but watching so many videos and breading different books get so overwhelming. This video was simple, straight to the point, and very credible for look at her progress!!! ❤ thank you😊 keep them coming!
