CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Doctors at UVA Health believe certain foods can reduce your risk for cancer. It is not an absolute, but you can eat and even grow your own cancer protection.
That’s why the hospital is teaming up with nonprofit Cultivate Charlottesville to host a gardening workshop.
On Wednesday evening, at City of Promise Garden, registered community members can learn how to grow healthy fruits and vegetables no matter the real estate space.
“We’re always looking for innovative ways to help reduce the cancer burden,” said Claudette Grant, UVA Cancer Center’s outreach specialist. “And so we thought that this would be a fun way to incorporate the benefits of gardening, and providing fresh fruits and vegetables into our daily, healthy eating habits.”
