They are assassin bug nymphs. No need to ruin the plant they are beneficials. They kill squash bugs, aphids, tomato hornworms, and other insects that decimate your flowers and veggies.

These are Dickless Dino Mites, named after Isaac Dickless who discovered them in 1948. They’re physically harmless but will destroy you mentally. They reproduce rapidly and will spread to your entire house room by room, there’s stories of people waking up in bed with them covering their entire faces. They don’t die by traditional pesticides because I have no idea what I’m talking about and made this entire thing up. No clue what they are but hope someone comes along with an answer soon because I’m invested now.

According to a post a couple years ago,
They are leaf-footed bug nymphs.
“those are leaf-footed bugs. they look similar to assassin bugs but they are not indeed our friends. not a death wish for the plant though unless you let them stay. just shake em off outdoors and then give your plant a dose of whatever you typically kill other bugs with.”

That’s a cult. A bug cult. You have desecrated their sacred ground. There will be no mercy.

Cripes! I’m reading a Sci Fi book right now and the creatures have a hive mind structure. This makes me think of the book!

the way my soul just left my body 😨😨 is the mouth a long tube type thing that goes along their body or a shorter “beak” that stops just after the head?
I had these weird freaks too, on a leaf of a baby grape tree last September, near Houston area! They’re so creepy lol. They disappeared the next day and I haven’t seen them again. The baby grape tree was fine though. And luckily outside. If that weird bug cult was in my house I’d have been way more uncomfy lol. Idk what they are, just remember seeing from Google Lens that it was probably the assassin bug thing someone else mentioned. If it is the harmful leaf-footed thing the other person mentioned, whoopsie, lol.
Edit – after more looking into it now that I learned the name of the other bug from this thread, yeah definitely seems like the leaf-footed bug nymphs. Anyway, I share the solidarity of witnessing this weird and uncomfortable bug cult!

Probably leaf footed bug nymphs. I think they’re cute haha. I would just shake them off outside. Definitely not enough of a problem to kill the plant.

I’m an entomologist and a houseplant enthusiast and all this insect hate on here is hurting my heart… people need to give them a chance and learn about them. Insects are cool as hell and we’d all be dead without them
