A landscape gardener in his 30s was found dead outside his home address, an inquest opening has heard.

Frazer Howes of New Road, Shillingford, died on May 3 after it was reported that he was found unresponsive outside his home.

The 34-year-old’s death was verified at 8.49am by an air ambulance worker and his body was identified to police by his father the same day.

The inquest into the death of the Oxford-born man was opened by senior coroner Darren Salter at Oxford Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, May 27.

His preliminary cause of death, following post-mortem examination is given as  asphyxiation – the state or process of being deprived of oxygen – and aspiration of stomach contents, which happens when something ‘goes down the wrong way’ and enters the airway or lungs.

The full inquest will take place on September 9 at 11.45am.
