Henderson County Master Gardener Association (HCMGA) joined other vendors on Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Athens downtown square for the weekly Farmer’s Market. They invited visitors to HCMGA’s upcoming events and spoke about the many benefits of using Texas A&M resources to improve their gardens and yards. HCMGA plans to hold at least two educational events in June, one covering growing blueberries and the other growing herbs.
Questions like, “What can I plant that will take little water?”, were answered by the Master Gardeners. Information on how to become certified as a Master Gardener volunteer was also given to those interested. Master Gardeners welcomed discussions about various horticultural topics such as plant problems, timing vegetable planting, controlling weeds, and landscaping needs.
