A new supported living service has opened in Bury, marked by an open day event.

Saxon House, developed by Northern Healthcare in partnership with the council, officially launched on Tuesday, May 20.

The open day welcomed people supported by the service alongside partners and stakeholders involved in its planning and delivery.

The facility includes 13 one-bedroom apartments, with three two-storey mews homes, and provides tailored support for individuals living with mental health conditions or mild learning disabilities.

Guests had the chance to tour the purpose-designed spaces and learn how Saxon House is already supporting individuals in their recovery.

Northern Healthcare CEO Nicola Forshaw, addressing attendees during the event, said: “Saxon House has been thoughtfully created to be more than just a place to live – it’s a place to grow.

“Our aim is to empower each person on their recovery journey by focusing on their strengths and supporting their potential.

“We know that the best support comes through working together, which is why partnership is at the heart of everything we do; with the people who live here, the community mental health team, and our wider network of professionals and neighbours.

“This service is the result of close teamwork with Bury Council and our community partners, and I want to thank everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

“Together, we’re creating a true home where recovery and opportunity go hand in hand.”

Cllr Tamoor Tariq, deputy leader and cabinet member for adult care, health and well-being at the council, added: “Saxon House is a testament to our commitment to expanding specialist mental health accommodation in Bury.

“It marks a significant milestone in our work to ensure people have access to high-quality homes and the support they need to thrive.

“The service’s central location makes it ideal for accessing local amenities, and our community mental health team will work closely with the Saxon House care team to provide integrated, person-centred support.
