I’ve been slowly turning this side yard into a pollinator patch over the last two summers. I’ve been getting Monarchs!!
Most pictures are from last summer, but I added a few more feet this year with the bricks. Waiting for things to start growing now. Unfortunately weather has been rough here in MA until recently so very few things are blooming right now.

Really good use of that location! It’s going to look really good when it’s in full swing
This looks wonderful! Love everything you’ve done so far
This is literally goals. I started de-weeding my backyard this year so hopefully in a couple of years it’ll look like yours
This looks so great, fifth photo with the nodding onion is my favorite. Any lessons learned or tips to share?
Nice looking, good work. I did the same thing about 4 yrs ago. Literally looks identical. Here’s what I learned, hopefully it’s helpful for you:
– the wavy line is cool but you have to mow that. I mowed mine maybe 3 times before I got frustrated and smoothed out the sharper parts of the wave.
– grass is going to grow between your bricks. I thought I could manage it, I couldn’t. Grass grows fast and will also start trying to reclaim your new flower bed space.
– without gravel under the bricks, they’ll sink. Then they’ll start to get water logged. Then if it freezes in the winter where you live, they’ll start to shatter apart.
The solution (for me) to the last two: dig up the sod, put down gravel, then bricks on top. They’ll stop sinking and shattering in the winter.
