So many hummingbirds have been visiting in Hudson Valley NY. Also I got the yellow before I realized that not everything labeled “native” is native to your region and that I have to research everything and still reconcile myself to the inevitable mistakes.
I’m going to try to do some cuttings of the trumpet. Anyone done that successfully and have advice?

That’s great. Haven’t seen a single hummingbird on mine yet and I’m in a similar geo. Maybe I’ve just missed them so far, thought it might be a bit early still.
Should’ve gone for that. My trumpet vine is so slow…
My mom has successfully rooted cuttings from my honeysuckle. She used young parts that were actively growing, dipped them in rooting hormone, and put in potting soil. Knowing her (and her watering habits) she likely babied them and kept them moist.
I also dug up a section that just kinda rooted by growing along the ground and gave it to a friend. It took off and looks great. They are easy plants that love life, one of my favorites. I’m in central PA.
Beautiful! I’ve been wanting to plant some
Is the yellow one kintzley’s ghost honeysuckle? I just potted up an accidental cutting. I have propagated honeysuckle successfully. Keep soil moist in a pot and keep in a shaded area. Root hormone powder helps. 🙂
The yellow isn’t necessarily non native. In MD we have a red and a yellow species native to the area. The yellow prefers partial shade.
