During April’s Earth Day, a project that was a year in the making became a reality with the official opening of the Island’s first Community Garden, a project first proposed to Village Council by Valerie Seeve.
By the time the ribbon cutting ceremony happened, adjacent to the Beach Park, some 150 plants, including cabbage, tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce and eggplant, along with dozens of herbs, were planted among the eight flower beds, made from 100 percent recyclable metal, ensuring food safety.
