   Hi Gary,
   This year I planted ten Armenian Yard-Long cucumber plants. Two of them ended up dying, one is slowly dying. I have replacement plants sprouting. It looks like they were sprayed with a herbicide, but no herbicides were used on my property. I live out in the sticks with the nearest neighbor a half mile away. Well, I found out, that the county did in fact spray a herbicide along the road when they were out grading the road (Usually annually, and usually in September or October. They are late, not early, this year.). Well, it turns out my suspicions were correct. I'm just lucky it didn't effect more of my garden. Typically they would grade the runoff ditches when grading the roads. This year, they went biochemical! To say I am pissed is an understatement. So yeah, my first call was to the county commissioner asking them what kind of idiots the county contracts. She didn't have an answer for me.

   I've always heard that vegetable seeds don't need fertilizer, now I wish I had added some because my seeds are not germinating 😢

    I'm contemplating planting my succession plants in shaded area for summer, due to lack of room in my current small garden. Could this be beneficial without shade cloth, or will they suffer from lack of sunlight?

    Thanks for sharing this video ! This is my first year succession, planting with everything and growing vertically to yield more crops in my urban garden… Before I used to get so bummed out about one plant in this year, I planted so many seeds that a 50 plants die then it’s not a big deal

    Gary, I'm needing to still sow my pickle bushes and winter squash. Terrible weather up here in Ontario. I have 6 large containers, I think 10g each (largest from Dollarama) about 18in across. Would you use those for the pickle bushes or butternuts? I have a 4×8 ground plot left to use up as well. 1st time I've grown either or the 2. Thanks.

    Where do you live, you are able to direct planting cucumber seeds in April. In my area it is still cold in April. I thought the temperature of the ground should be 75 to 80 degrees for cucumber seeds to germinate?
