I’ve had this deliciosa for a few years, repotted her a few months ago and this little sprout just popped up a few days ago….
I’m thinking maybe it’s a caladium red flash? Or some other variety of caladium?
Caladiums are from bulbs tho? Which would make sense if was dormant but I think I would’ve noticed a bulb in the soil.. unless could it have been so small it was undetectable??

Has anyone experienced this?

I’m so excited for her to join the family and once she’s big enough I’ll try getting in the soil and put her in her own pot. But for now my Monstera is a mother and I’ll let her take care of the baby.

It does look like a caladium. Their bulbs are pretty small so it would be easy to miss! I had this happen to me before.

I agree, some type of caladium. I had a caladium pop up in my monstera dubia because I dropped a corm in my soil bin.

Awww a little caladium. You can dig him out if you want. He will have a bulb. You can put him in his own pot. Then when he does, store the bulb for next spring. That’s so weird!!! I wonder how it got in there

Me, before scrolling to the next picture, “Thrips. Or spider mites. It’s always thrips or spider mites”

After seeing second picture, “Well that’s a nice surprise!”

You have a caladium stowaway! That’s actually super cute!

Yes Caladium, fantastic an in the house no less. That would be pretty if the whole bottom would fill in. Go get some more bulbs. Winning!

Now I want a Caladium! My Mother grew the prettiest ones I have ever seen. She kept them in planters on our front porch, and dug up the bulbs/corms every fall and kept them until the spring.

Everyone has already answered but specifically it looks like a Carolyn Wharton Caladium.

Literally had the exact same thing happen to me from using recycled soil.
