Western Canada, zone 5A. First full year now after laying sod last summer. I am always amazed at how well these come back to life. Mowed short, scarified, detached, laid a bunch of seed with spread, some by hand, watered an outrageous amount + good weather, and then fertilized twice in 6 weeks. Once with starter, then with food. This is the results since the mid/end of April. Very happy with the results

Looks great! You shouldn’t need to dethatch or scarify every year, just declaring that. I dethathed my lawn couple years ago only because the lawn was new to us with home purchase, but honestly I’ll probably never need to do it again if I take care of the grass and especially soil health.
