all right guys this is girl fold coming to you with a new video and today we’re doing something different because I am actually in Downtown Dallas um right off of Lemon Avenue looking at the Lowe’s over here I’ve never been to this location but as you can see the garden center looks pretty cool I love the Christmas tree that is greeting all of the guests that come in here so I I like that we’re going to see what kind of tropical house plants they have at this location and what the setup looks like so we’re going to enter here and you can see right off the bat it’s different than the um lows that I see are frequent often at the North Dallas locations these ones have three different aisle fixture so I think that’s really cool um they unfortunately right off the bat have some plants that are just not looking quite healthy you can always tell the quality of health of a plant at a big box store by looking at the agona red Cam you can see they were just not looking great and then some of these plants are not looking great so great either um this is really cool though like the Casta Farms having a um fixture like this is cool I like the merchandising that this particular Lowe’s has by having the specific plants um be the same like these easy Ravens although that inap should not have plants that are dying um they have some discounted succulents over there and then this agona um pink s is actually pretty healthy looking I like that um it probably just got off of the palette so it’s still looking pretty good I know I sound negative when I say that um just because I’ve noticed big box shopping these plants are just not as healthy and this is an interesting lemon Mor poos this is basically a sport variegation of the global green by custa Farms to me if you ask me they look the same and then we see not a not so good looking Baltic blue that has mbgs so yikes that definitely means that most of those plants within that area are infested with melee bugs and melee bugs are the death of any plant collector like I still battle with needly bugs and it really sucks but I do like this fixture this is like really cool and like um their pink say agona look really cute and then they have the lemon U Mor poos I thought that was really cool I haven’t seen that often and then we have these pink singi I like this as well um I don’t know if it’s pink Perfection but for $3.98 I’m not going to spend 1398 on a zonum I think I can get a much better price I think it’s because of the catch pot it looks really nice not my style I prefer simpler pots with like less texture and design um but let’s go ahead and look at the next aisle and see what plants they have so they have like a monster ad andon ey that’s not looking too healthy there’s a bunch of Dead Leaves coming off of it but you know what does always look healthy is a neon posos like every single Bo Big Box Store neon poos are just popping and it’s one of those things that I am eventually going to just cave in and bring one home um more hanging baskets right over here some stagghorn ferns or some kind of ferns and then I like the fact that they have different um Planters right next to the plants we have some more a variety of plants here and then oh my gosh is this a Japanese tricolor Global no it is it’s a mandula poos like it kind of looked like it just because of the the such high variegation I’ve never seen that much variegation on a manula I might rescue this plant just because that’s such a unique looking plant and just based on what the health looks like with these plants I know that it’s going to eventually just like die before it goes to clearance so um we’re going to walk over here and see that we have some 50% off Christmas cactus so like I said you if you want Christmas cactus for cheap go buy on you know Christmas Eve or after Christmas and we have a bunch of majesty Palms I always see a bunch of Majesty Palms but I haven’t seen a lot of like plan collectors actually have that featured at least on their channels I do like the openness of the um plant select you know section right here I think that if the plants were just more healthy people would be more prone to buy it at least you know actual plant collectors that know their plants but like I mean look at this this is a really nice looking CIA right over here that’s the thing with big box stores um they don’t have that much investment in terms of just keeping the plants alive because it’s scan based so basically if Costa Farms doesn’t sell a plant Costa Farms loses money not the big box store so they can literally just let these plants um sit here and if they don’t sell anything there isn’t any um profit loss on the big box but yes I keep looking at this should I rescue it and then there’s another mandula right over here it’s not as variegated as the other one and truthfully if you look at the Japanese Global tricolor it really does look like that without the yellow um variegation middle part like there’s like a a faint yellow variegation so we’ll see if I end up um you know rescuing this Mula poos um but yeah that’s pretty much it you know these plants arrive here in such fresh condition but give it about 4 weeks and they just end up declining now this is a really nice looking ethereum that’s beautiful right there but like these um you know poos you can see that there’s either some Thrift damage you can see those little yellowing on the tips um I think that’s the thing with big box doors is the pest like look at this agona it’s already losing its bottom leaves so it’s starting to look Ley but that was a beautiful plant that took a while to grow I mean plants don’t just magically appear and grow this big it does take time and that’s the reason why I have been talking about this I hope I don’t sound as negative it’s just the truth that as much as we love plants plants as a hobby create trash and it’s not something that we should really it be in support of I’ll do a video of like how many dead um plants I run into at big box stores and I thought this was a really cool little popup right here of Dak Prescott I mean you know that you’re in Dallas when Dak Prescott is at lows I thought that was interesting but yeah we’ll see if I actually picked up some plant and I did I couldn’t help but take this um wannabe Japanese Global tricolor AKA manula poos home I’m going to take this home make sure that it put some syst IC um granules to kill any pest for the future and then spray it down with a lot of like insecticidal soap and then use weed the wild protect just to give it a little bit of protection and when I took it home I did all of that and you can see that it is a nice in in a nice Ikea planter so we’re going to see the growth I hope you guys like this video and thank you for watching I’ll I’ll post another one soon bye

Wow!
I neee that pothos.
This Lowes has a beautiful and spacious layout but the health of the plants are not so good
A lot if them have damage. I wish they would just create a position were the persons sole job is to take care of the plants and nothing more. Then maybe they wouldn't end up dying and ending up in the trash. Big box stores are nice but they don't have the time to give proper care and attention to the plants. Glad that you decided to save one of the Japanese Pothos. Least we know this one will definitely survive and thrive. Still feel sad for the one left behind.😞Thank you for the wonderful tour. Will be waiting for the next plant video.💚👍
❤❤😊
Can you show us how to inspect the store plants for insects/pests?
Love the plant tours!!!
Great job and keep it up!
Awesome. They've got a lot in there .
Stop bashing big box store!!
Always so fun to watch what you're up to! Love it. Keep growing, Richie! 🎉
I love those plants..how do you tell them apart? I struggle with plant identification with some philodendrons and pothos.
Hello, I really like your coverage of the Texas Plant Con 2024. Exciting to see so many plants and how you explain them. Hey I know you concentrate on box stores but up here in Alaska the offers there are limited, so can you recommend other growers outside Alaska that sell individually? I'm mostly interested in pothos, spider and ZZ. Thank you for sharing your plant enthusiasm.
