That looks like a mother of millions plant. Each one of those are babies, like you said. They fall into the soil and grow into new plants 🙂

    Normal

Its a Kalanchoe Plant ~ Mother of Thousands

Having all of those babes surrounding the big leaves is its signature. The other ones may sprout soon. Its a sign of good plant care for that breed.

That’s how they reproduce and why they’re so invasive in most of the world

  4. Mother of Thousands. It creates…..babies…more and more and more babies. It’s actually illegal to own in certain places because if it gets outside, it can be catastrophic to the environment due to how many babies it creates. You also can’t burn them for some reason, I can’t remember why not. To dispose of them, put them in a black trash bag with NOTHING else, close it and wait for them to ALL turn to mush. You can’t just toss them out cause they are hardy and will keep growing.

Once the weathers right, I’ve got one that I plan on trying to let invade an area where nothing grows well. Zone 6b, so it will never actually become *invasive* here.

  6. Making babies, they fall off and grow and take over your life. I take them off put them in a bag and put them in the trash.

  7. I hate it so much because see it everywhere in my country and I had one before I don’t how it just spreading those fucking babies all over my other plants and they grow up side by side all my plants and they produce babies very fast and it’s a disaster .
You can just take of this monster and put it on the fridge for one day before to throw it away in nature to make compost without growing up again like a virus

Because those are a bunch of little babies with roots.

you can pull them off and plant they’ll grow or else if they fall on their own they’ll grow too

What’s my plant doing? Well you stated exactly what it’s doing in the next sentence. It’s growing a bunch of babies.

Mother-of-[insert number here] plants want to take over the world.

Your plant is literally called a “mother of thousands”, it’s gonna make thousands of babies 😭

Many parents ask why their child is having children… but sometimes that’s just the way life goes 🤷🏻‍♀️

The best you can do is just be there for them. And maybe put them up for adoption as one can’t always take care of multiple children at the same time.

Time to get a bunch of ‘car seats’ and find them new homes 😏

Looks to be just chilln or something I guess

Certainly an interesting evolutionary development. Substitute for seeds?

  14. JohnnieLouHansen

I call them a different kind of mother due to insane and unauthorized multiplying.

They are propagules, that’s how this type of kalanchoe propagates (there are other ways to propagate it, but this is the main one). In their autochthonous region (Madagascar) is an endangered species but in the rest of the world (warm zones) is an invasive species due to this (I still have an infestation of these little guys) reproductive ability. I hate them! 😤

PS: It’s a poisonous plant! Keep your pets and children away from it.

I swear I thought this was houseplantcirlcejerk.

People who own plants, and do not know what they own, is so intriguing

  17. It’s making babies bc it’s a Mother of Thousands. Highly invasive and nearly impossible to kill. Good luck!
