Got quoted for the removal of these 4 Schefflera actinophylla (umbrella trees) at $2,000. He would clean everything up but no stump grinding. There is power lines behind them about 5 feet from the tops of the trees and the one on the far right goes over the power line line to my house. Is this a reasonable price?

Sounds fair, especially if stump grinding. Those trees will probably need to be pieced out by hand since you can’t get equipment back there

If they are near the power line, the power line might come out and do it for free

  3. Those are small trees that would be easy to remove from the ground
Someone with a truck and chipper could do that in 2-4 hours
I’d say the price is a bit high

It does cost a bit of time to gather everything, pay someone to dump it off somewhere. You are paying for that, the gas, a part of the equipment used (such as chainsaws and even the truck/trailer), whoever organized a crew for this, a salesman and of course, the crew themselves. This just gives an idea.

If you are talking to a small company, they want to be sure they benifit enough for their time and effort, if you are talking to a bigger company, they want it to be worth their time, when they could be doing bigger projects.

That price does not surprise me, but it could be less. Someone in the world, i am sure, would do it for half the price, but i doubt you will find someone to do it for much less.

Personally I don’t think that’s to bad if the final result is completely gone stumps and dirt to back fill the holes.

  6. My 3 man crew would have that done in 1.5 hrs max. Before looking at the pics I thought ya reasonable with stumps and roots.

Considering the care that needs to be taken with the powerlines and fences, seems pretty reasonable. It’d be a much quicker job if there were no obstacles

It’s ok but if that was me, I’d cut it myself and save $2k and learn a new skill.
