Just received my order from Green Escape. They didn't ship for nearly a week. This is what I got…
Milky way colocasia, albo epipremnum, and variegated frydek.
There was a thread the other day where a comment about Green Escape being a good seller had a ton of upvotes. My reaction was “Lol, girl what?”.
Only had to order from them once before it was a quick write-off to never support them again and try and tell people not to.
Don’t let the cheap prices tempt you, their plants are ass. Bummer about your order, hopefully the plants make it.

Etsy is just a mess for everything now. I won’t buy from them at all, unless I am 100% sure the seller is a legitimate maker and not just drop shipping crap.
The one time I ordered from the green escape, one of the plants had been rolled up between the packing paper (instead of inside it) & had creased leaves.
They also have barely grown since I got them. That part is probably my fault, but it still makes me feel better when I hear about other people having problems with green escape plants lol
Scared_Excuse_4060
Don’t order from them or sunshine greens. It’s a nightmare. I get all my plants from Orange lake nursery now they’re amazing!!
MissionMoth
Didn’t ship for a week? On Etsy? Damn, you got the fastest shippers on the entire site.
If I order on Etsy I just assume it’ll show up anywhere between 3 and 6 months.

Wait what’s wrong with them?
FormerAnn
I’ve found that the subs here offer better deals than Etsy
lnkbIot
There’s an old post in this sub from a former Green Escape employee detailing their horrendous work environment. The funniest thing is that a lot of the supportive comments for the company were new accounts made that same day – maybe the owners trying to discredit the employee?
My takeaway is: never order from Green Escape. Their plants are poor quality and they treat their workers even worse.
Pleasant-Hand2326
I had the worst experience with them, and then when I asked for help, and they never answered, I opened a case.
And promptly got an email telling me off.

Damn people buy plants this tiny? Almost makes me wanna try start selling too. i always have a bunch of baby plants i inevitably neglect to death which makes me feel bad. I just lost like 7 baby monstera adansoniis and a few pothos njoy because i simply forgot to water that batch. I’d gladly give them to someone locally for 1 eur each or even less if i used duct tape instead of a pot like the pics lol.

Lots of plant places only ship Monday/Tuesday. It’s to avoid having plants sitting in the post office or warehouse over a weekend with who knows what kind of weather. Depending on the location (idk where this place is) it can take a while to ship across the country, and then tack on extra day if you are in a smaller town. I mailed something from Iowa to small town Maine this week, dropped off Monday ups and it won’t arrive until Thursday. And a friend and I decided to delay shipping on another package because of the heat last week.

just got an order from green escape and every plant is damaged. I have one plant that every leaf on it is in terrible shape. but I’ve ordered from other shops that sent me beautiful plants and they came in perfect condition. it’s a crap shoot 😕
wishiwerea
I really dislike green escape. Please don’t let them ruin it for the good shops, there are plenty.
Results vary, but Etsy vs Palmstreet or seller’s websites have been about the same for me. I’ll try different sellers and return to the best ones.
Novelty_Lamp
Stumbling on a wishlist plant in a random plant shop is way more fun anyways.
I got burned so badly so many times on there. Was just an upsetting experience. Blew my mind nearly every seller says no refunds or returns and then refuses to give you shipping options besides usps. I will happily pay for overnight air for peace of mind.
Shout out to Glassboxtropicals and modernaquashop. You suck and are why I won’t shop on etsy again. ❤️
YeaYouGoWriteAReview
The green escape loves, ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LOVES, to post large looking starter plants for pics 2 through whatever and then shipping plants the size of a bic lighter.
I highly recommend PlantObsessedSD, its a small shop but its worth looking at because she ships EXACTLY what the pictures show. My Ficus Moonshine and Stromanthe Triostar were $20 each and might as well have been the same plants as the listing.
Did i mention that TheGreen Escape should go play in traffic while blindfolded? I just want to make it clear…. ya know….

Some shops I’ve had good experiences with: coollective plants, GroovyPlantsRanchLLC, BijanTropicals, CaliforniaTropicals and theplantfarm (have placed 10+ orders from them over the years). Outside of Etsy, Steve’s Leaves and Josh’s Frogs
Ameenah_M
May get hate for this but I’ve been having the best outcomes with big box stores over Etsy, small plant shops, etc. Lowe’s and Home Depot in particular. I just can’t trust online too much anymore. Especially Etsy.
Dazzling-Biscotti-62
I genuinely do not see an issue here, they look healthy and in good condition…..
Bruhh004
I’ve heard that this shop specifically takes a long time to ship because they get so many orders
67xrt99
I just ordered from the Green Escape last week and had the same issue! Stayed in a warehouse in Florida for 4 days before finally shipping. Haven’t gotten them yet but preparing for the worst.
gontrolo
I’ve ordered from this same shop and had a very similar experience. Very tiny specimens (way smaller than they led me to believe) and only 1/3 of the plants I bought were still alive ~2 months later.
Phoenixicorn-flame
A week is normal for business. Especially smaller sellers . They aren’t Amazon prime. Damn, cool your jets
Modbossk
Yeah, green escape has been known to do this shit fairly often. I don’t buy from them because of the lengthy rehabbing necessary after their shipping, and it comes and the plants are small and shitty. Literally the only saving grace has been that I’ve bought anthuriums from them with multiple active growth points per pot.
bunkie18
Order from Gabriella Plants or Canopy-Steve’s Leaves as well. All are fantastic
I found this for $45 at a local grocery store that has no idea what they’re doing and randomly got in an amazing assortment of plants.
The variegated frydek is my favorite plant, but as I’m recovering from cancer I don’t feel I’m able to fully care for it so I left it at the store. I can’t guarantee I’m not a dunce at shipping, but I could try for you if you’re interested, OP 🤗💚
Mary-Wana
Still waiting on mine from them. Says the shipping label was created for 4 days now. Your plants look good anyway, especially the Frydek!
I bought a tradescantia from someone on there and paid $22 for a sprig with 2 leaves on it even though the listing said full plant. and as if tradescantia are so hard to send more than a sprig with a freaking leaf on it.D:
KDBlastIt
I thought I was getting good deals from Green Escape until I tried someone else. Their starter plants are this freaking bitty, and they’ll often use those sponge plugs so good luck keeping stuff like hoyas alive through that.
If you want to stick with Etsy, I suggest you try Brumley and Broom. I ordered last night on a whim and my plants are in the mail today– caught a 45% off sale, and have a four-inch pot and six-inch pot worth of aglaonemas on the way.
thatboredchickster
I thought green escape looked sus. Seemed too good to be true on a lot of stuff. I’m sorry.
hydronecdotes
i won’t purchase from thegreenescape anymore. my last four purchases, i demonstrated a need for and subsequently successfully received – in increasing amounts – partial to total refunds. i don’t know what’s happened since 2021, but they can no longer guarantee quality plants, and i can’t be bothered with the time sink to care for and lose houseplants. i appreciate your calling them out, and the substitutes in the comments will be invaluable to many of us!

I saw another post like this last week or so, OP on that post had shared another shop they found on Etsy: [https://www.etsy.com/shop/PlantObsessedSD?ref=reviews_header_shopname&listing_id=1736503073#items](https://www.etsy.com/shop/PlantObsessedSD?ref=reviews_header_shopname&listing_id=1736503073#items) They have great reviews and some nice plants as well. Hope that helps.
