Got this lavender plant around 8 months ago and after the first month it shriveled up massively into, well, this. Care has been a bit on and off, and despite the varying levels of sunlight and water, nothing has ever seemed to click. However I also don’t think it’s dead because the leaves are still attached – am I wrong? Also there’s this random sapling springing out which is doing better than the lavender ever did – bonus points for identifying it for me!
What do I do to save this little thing?

I’m so sorry but that is dead
This is in the process of decomposition as it shows mold spores. It is long dead. very very dead. Condolences
It’s time to say goodbye.
It died after the first month, likely due to overwatering.
This is why I don’t deserve nice things – because I can’t recognize mood spores on a long dead plant 🥲
Thanks to all you good folks, I’ve done a respectful funeral and am now giving a lease on life to this unidentified growing object (yes I’ll adopt anything that agrees to live under my care)

As opposed to intermittently dead?
I’m sorry but I don’t think even necromancy would work at this point.
