So for the last 8 wks I’ve worked really hard to transition much of our yard to micro clover. 2 or 3 days ago our lawn company (forgive me father, for I have sinned) from last year came through on auto renewal and fertilized/laid weed killer. Now my clover is shriveling and I want to cry. Is there any way to counteract this and save my clover babies? If not how long should I wait to reseed? Have I mentioned I want to cry??

And yes, I called to cancel our lawn treatments as soon as I saw my droopy clover.

Its probably hopeless but how long ago they spray? Maybe you can wash some of the herbicide off?

You are forgiven, my son. As is my husband who had a long term lawn service that I finally cancelled today as well. (See my post from a few hours ago if you care to.)

Wish I could tell ya what will happen!! But hey, you cancelled it. Dont cry over spilled milk, clean it up and move on. As in, if it dies, try again.

I did read up on what the spread on our lawn bc I was super concerned as I had my seedling babies on the porch when they came. If it was 2,4-D (that’s the herbicide they used for us) it has a half life of 6-10 days. I did notice some weird leaf coloring (splotchy yellow where it used to be green) to my potted up dahlias that were on the patio closer to the lawn, but I can’t be sure if it was the herbicide or because I’ve had them in too small of pots for too long. All I know is those people are never coming to our house ever again!!!!

So I guess you did what you *can* control, which is canceling the service, and what happens next to your clover is out of your control. The re-birth is in your control tho!!

Also I’m so very sorry, I would cry too. 😭😭😭😭
Sending hugs!! When ya fall down, just get back up!! Get another bag of seeds!! It’s so early in the season, you have soooo much time to recover from this. HUGS!!

First of all, I am sooooo sorry this happened. Omg it is the saddest feeling when you see your babies shrivel. 😩

Do you know what pesticide they used? Pesticide labels have a wealth of information including the plants (and plant families) they target, the half life in soil, and if they degrade in UV light, yada yada. If you can get the registration number from the landscaper you should be able to find the information online pretty readily.

    Best of luck <3

Wait, so you’re telling me there’s a “service” where professionals will show up at your home every year and pour poisons all over without confirming with you first!?

    Wtf?

What if you didn’t even live at that address anymore?

This is not something that should be legally eligible for autorenewal.

The solution to pollution is dilution. I don’t think you can save this clover but if you try to rinse it off well, it will speed up when you can reseed and you might save some roots too

Nope … they applied a “broad leaf” weed killer and clover has broad leaves.

Ask them what they applied and see how long you have to wait until you can reseed.

  8. You need to contact the company and find it what they used, then Google “so and so label” and it’ll be all the info you need.

I think the key is the find out what they sprayed, and figure out how persistent it is. That should tell you how long before you can re-seed.
