The weight of the rest caused the stem to snap :(( can I propagate or what?

Oh my gosh!! I did the same thing with this plant. I was so upset with myself. I got scotch tape and stood my plant back in the correct position and taped a few layers around it. I did this mostly being a smart ass but it freaking worked! It’s over a foot taller now!!

i feel for you so much!! definitely propagate! cut the snapped part and remove a few leaves, let the cutting dry for a few days until a scab appears and then add to some dry soil in a small pot! water after about 7/10 day and then let the soil dry again before watering further! i would recommend some rooting powder too! it’s a magical tool! and the remaining trunk will make a fab base for a new thriving jade plant! 🌱

Just had almost the exact same thing happen with my jade. I shoved it in some soil and have been watching it. None of the leaves have withered so I think I might be good!

  4. Jades are good bonsai plants and lots of people prune them on purpose to prompt new growth and make them bushier. The stem would grow new branches and the branch would prop well.

So thats one option but tbh id probably just tape it back together and see what happened if one of mine snapped 😅

  5. lol you could literally just leave it like that and it would propagate itself, these things are nearly indestructible.

That said, leaving your established roots to grow back into the main plant will result in a thicker, stronger plant. You’ll get 2-3 new growths where it broke. You should prune jade every so often.

the rest of it, just leave it somewhere for a day or two then stick it in dirt and forget it ever happened.

Honestly, I’d try taping the branch back in place! I once straight up snapped a MASSIVE plant in half (not a jade, but still) and, in my panic (it was not my plant), just lined up the broken parts as carefully as I could and went on with my repotting. Plant never even skipped a beat!
