I think (hope) those aerial roots are a good sign that this little guy is happy but the way it’s looking has me wondering if I need to move him to a place where those roots can actually, well, root.

This guy is living in a W/SW-facing window that we call the “happy place” because a lot of our plants seem to thrive over here and all of these succulents here seem to get along in the same planter.

I water everyone here once every 10 ish days.

Anyway, is he happy and should I propagate? And do these guys normally grow like this?? With so many little babies sprouting like that?

Thank you in advance! I’ve learned a lot from this community and appreciate all of the helpful tips I’ve learned since joining.

I find it kind of ironic you’re referring to a Mother Of Thousands as “guy” and “he” lol

  2. Very normal growth and it’s doing really well!!!! These things grow sooooo crazy fast they will always grow aerial roots and that’s okay 🤷🏽‍♀️ if you want you can just pop them off and set them on top of the soil. Be warned, they may end up in pots that are close by

Mother of Millions is considered invasive in a lot of places because of how fast they spread. A lot of people recommend fire to kill it.

You couldn’t kill that plant if it was your job

Looks like it. I have one. Allegedly they’re invasive and those babies fall off everywhere 😭 I would keep it away from other plants. I have her babies growing in other pots that were nearby. But I love her, her name is Debbie

I had one that grew to at least 4ft tall! x’D

She is very happy but you are about to be very unhappy if you don’t destroy it. Highly toxic. A heart stopper. Literally. And it will grow in places you never wanted it to be (carpet). The only safe way to keep one is to put it in a closed terrarium. Its adorableness cannot compensate for the problems it poses which is why burning it with fire is suggested. Putting it in the compost bin is a very bad idea.

Before you burn have it flower once. It’s quite a show!

I’ve been growing these puppies for a few years now, and, yes, this is normal growth. As your plant grows, its leaves will get bigger, and it will produce even more babies at a time. It will never end. And the plant can get huge!

The babies that are growing roots can be planted. They’ll also drop over time if you accidentally knock the pot. If any of them fall on the dirt, they’ll root and grow. If they fall on the counter, they’ll continue growing roots for a while. If you want to grow babies, just plop a few in some dirt and they’ll do their thing. Or don’t. They’ll find a way to grow anyway. If you leave the babies attached to the leaves, they’ll keep growing. Eventually, the attached babies will make babies while they’re still attached!

A word of warning for your future growing: these plants bloom. When they bloom, the blooms eventually turn into more babies. I didn’t know this, and now I have four tiers of bloom-induced baby plants that are waiting for any stray breeze to explode like a glitter bomb over the rest of my pots (send help! 😂)

Maybe you could make yourself a deal: you’ve now successfully grown that plant, so burn it and get a new shiny plant

I was gifted one singular leaf of this bitch and was not told it does what it does. I fear for my life now

I always take all the baby plants off of these.

Don’t plant it outside! It’s a weed and dangerous for native species!

Super invasive if you are in any sort of climate that doesn’t winter and some that do.
