Hi! I received a muria hortenseae recently and I wanted to see if anyone here had suggestions on how to get more roots established. There is one root that is probably 1/3 cm long and a few nubs right on the base of the leaf. The muria itself is a little bigger than my pointer finger (2nd photo). I’ve looked around online and have found a lot of useful info about it other than what to do for this specific thing. Please share your knowledge with me!! Thanks 🙂

I use a heat mat since I grow in my apartment. It has made a big impact in those plants that need help stimulating root growth. My soil is 90% small grain pumice and I like to keep the humidity high.
I have successfully rooted two murias! here’s my two cents.
first of all, I recommend reading Steven Hammer’s book about mesembs. the whole thing is really interesting, but there’s a part about muria care specifically.
here’s the book:

in my experience, these were really easy to root. I used my standard mesemb soil mix (potting soil + perlite + akadama). and watered lightly and frequently (like twice a week, just around the base of the plant)
my first muria rooted in less than two weeks iirc. the second one also rooted pretty fast, but then my cat knocked the pot over and disconnected the plant from the roots. the plant survived, rooted again, my cat knocked the pot over AGAIN. I think she likes to pull the plant with her paws? she’s an adorable little demon. anyway, the plant rooted AGAIN!
so yeah, you shouldn’t have problems getting it to root
