I feel like all these rare plants tend to look alike. Always variegated, always allocasia, anthurium, philodendron… And it even looks like they aren't that rare because every plant collector has them and you see them everywhere on social network. Getting kind of sick of these rare and expensive plants!
What are your favorite non rare plants but seem rare because nobody brags about them on the internet ?
I love begonia mazae nigricans (not my photo)

Amongst my favorite plants I had were a Panama rose that had been pruned into a tree pile shape instead of a bush, and an angel wing begonia.
Unfortunately I moved so those two were given away but they were fun plants to have
My homalomena! I bring her up at every opportunity, she’s so huge and healthy and easy! And they’re really not that common, I see very few people with them online and they’re not that easy to find in shops!

Really not sure if this is rare at all and I’m pretty sure new to plant social media, but I haven’t seen these little guys much. It’s some kind of graptosedum, maybe alpeneglow or bronze. They look like little truffula trees☺️

Good old philodendron, “rare” because it’s variegated.
I believe I have the same Begonia, thanks, now I know its name. (:
I have so many not so instagrammable plants, they are kind of my thing. I love my Plectranthus (have several species, the most common being probably P. verticillatus), their leaves are aromatic and some are even fuzzy. Also a Stapelia and lately Cissus quadrangularis since I got it to grow. Cissus just have such amazing growth structures. Add some Asparagus fern, plain green Hoya carnosa and Tradescantia pallida and all those variations on white speckled aroids feel almost like a monoculture.
Don’t get me wrong, I do have a few beautiful aroids, but I don’t buy into the hype.
oh my thats beautiful! what exactly is it? i have a similar one but it’s spotted. begonias right?

For me, it’s gotta be the humble snake plant. They’re just so easy to care for, practically indestructible, and they still look really cool and modern. Plus, they’re supposed to be great for air purifying, which is always a bonus!
Goldfish plant (Columnea gloriosa)
