Summer is almost here, and for many shoppers, sprucing up the house and the garden is a number one priority – but one thing that can get in the way is pesky weeds.
Weeds can be a real pain to get rid of, but the good news is that Brits don’t need to worry about harmful chemicals or waiting forever for them to die. There is a solution – a weed burner that gets rid of them extremely quickly. Amazon has a deal that might appeal to shoppers looking to get rid of pesky weeds. The Draper Weed Burner is currently £26.99 in a limited-time deal, down from £34.95.
It comes with a built-in 2000W burner and offers two heat settings, whether users need gentle warmth or intense heat to tackle stubborn weeds in the garden or around the house. It also comes with an interchangeable nozzle designed for other uses, including charcoal lighting for a BBQ or other uses around the home.
The burner is also built into the tool so there’s no need to buy additional gas canisters to attach to the device – meaning shoppers can spend less.
This device uses a lot of heat so care and precaution should be taken, as well as ensuring it’s out of reach from children. Due to the heat used to burn the weeds this should also not be used during ultra dry weather, to prevent any risk of fire.
There are alternatives for shoppers to grab. B&Q is selling the £20 Hardy’s weed burner here, but this will require users to buy some butane gas. And for shoppers looking to go all out, you can grab the Hozelock Power Turbo Weeder for £119.90.
Shoppers have also been praising the device, with one calling it “absolutely brilliant”. The same shopper said: “I wish I’d known about these years ago. I was trying not to use weed killer this year, but my large garden and drive were getting out of control. It’s taken a few hours to torch everything, but now it’s done, it’ll be super easy to keep on top of it every few weeks.”
Another shopper added: “Bought this as I was tired of the back-breaking work of clearing the weeds out of my paving…the most appealing thing about this for me (cos essentially I’m still a little boy inside) is the fact I can burn things…fun for any guy.
“Let me tell you…this thing works a dream. It doesn’t work any faster than clearing things by hand, but it does save all the back-breaking scraping and all of the waste you have to throw in your garden bin…burn it all, I say. Yet to see if they come back, and I imagine the ants that crawl between the cracks of my paving will be thinking that the apocalypse is coming.
“The area in the pictures took me roughly an hour to give you some context on how long it takes. I’m gonna grab my chair from the office to wheel me about the rest of the garden so I’m not just standing all the time…lazy gardening is the best gardening. Work smart, not hard… and burn some things.”
However, not everyone is happy. Many shoppers had a problem with the size of the power cord. One shopper added: “Bought this as a more eco-friendly way of clearing weeds from the back yard (mostly paved with areas of stone chips).
“Unfortunately, I think I’ll be sticking with chemical weedkiller. It does work…up to a point, it is painstaking work clearing even a relatively small area. Because of the short handle, I was having to use it slightly stooped, which didn’t do my back or neck any favours.
“Also only really suitable for fairly small plants and doesn’t seem to prevent regrowth any better than other solutions.”
