Every spring, they show up like they own the place. They show up right before the bloom.
Some gardeners say ants help peonies open, others claim theyโ€™re just there for the sugar.

So whoโ€™s right? Iโ€™ll let the comments decide.๐ŸŒธ

  1. If you have no ants, no flowers. Peonies need ants to open flowers..I have 3 huge established peonies and a gardener and landscaper. Your all good! โคโคโค

  2. I came to say they won't open without the ants, but I see that someone else already beat me to mentioning that. I hope they bloom beautifully!

  3. Be careful!
    Ants farm aphids.
They transport them to the plants to eat, fatting the aphids up for the ants later on

  4. Love how much Iโ€™m learning from you all ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ants, aphids, blooming secretsโ€ฆ

  5. If it's not a whole colony, all good…
Otherwise: ladybugs are your best friend! โค

  6. I know they don't harm them. Every year buds are covered with ants, I never do anything about it at all and tell everyone it is part of the process. Our peonies are beautiful every summer, I do nothing at all. That is the secret

  7. omg! just came to my place in NC to see all the ones I planted last yr covered in ants THIS yr! oh thank u so much for this, I was worried๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
