AMES, Iowa — Stink Floyd, the 12-year-old corpse flower at Reiman Gardens, has bloomed and is living up to its nickname.

The flower, known as Amorphophallus titanum, began its bloom on Saturday evening. It releases an intense odor that some say smells like dirty gym socks, with others comparing it to roadkill or rotting flesh.

Reiman Gardens has extended its hours to accommodate visitors eager to witness the rare event. The gardens opened at 7 a.m. on Sunday and remained open until 11 p.m.

General admission is priced at $12, with discounts available for seniors aged 65 and older, as well as children aged 2-12. Admission is free for children under 2 and Iowa State University students.
