When planting your FIA, you’ll need to make sure that they’re planted 2 to three inches apart and 2 to three inches below the soil surface. You need to know which end is up and which end is down. Frieia are really fun because they actually do have a kind of tip, which is the top growing point area, and then they have do have a bottom, which is the opposite of that tip. The first step is to space the bulbs out. The bulbs are so tiny and they need to be spaced 2 to 3 in apart. So, we can fit quite a few of them in this container. If you’re planting them in the ground, it’s the same thing. Make sure each bulb is oriented correctly and place each bulb in the planting hole. We’re going to lightly tamp down the soil over the top. The very last step is to lightly water to help with rooting and to trigger growth. In the weeks and months ahead, you’ll need to keep up regular watering on your friia. But the trick here is is you don’t want to start watering them until you see them emerge and start growing up out of the soil.
