I'm happy to hear that even pro gardeners think dropping the trimmed leaves around the base and roots is as good an idea as I thought it was! I've been doing that for years and years.
I'm particularly amused by you saying "cucumber" when you meant "tomato", because I've been doing that all week, calling MiL's iris "lilies" just about every time I mentioned them! π€£ It's also reminding me that I really need to get some cukes into the ground now that it's finally warm enough for them, but it's been raining all week…

Literally watching this while haveing a break from the heat in the greenhouse putting tomatoβs out π
I'm so confused….is it a tomato or a cucumber?.ππ
Having a tomato grow into a cucumber tree … we're really covering new ground here, and i'm in for it! πππΌβ¨π±

U have not joined me πππ
Fabulous! What you are doing with that outdoor tomato is great. Last year I was a bit lazy due to the cold spring and didn't take off all the side shoots, and tidy up many tomatoes in my tunnel. It was the best tomato year I have ever had! I had to rummage through a jungle of tomato plants – in long sleeves π, But they were everywhere! I have never seen a anything like it. So I wonder if all the 'old ways' of taking off all side shoots to benefit the plant etc are the best way to go? Love your videos, Huw, you push the boundaries – my style of gardening π I follow your permaculture too. I've got swedes, onions, broadbeans and cauli plants all in the same bed. I love it that some things grow up, somethings grow down, and when things are finished there is something growing in between .π€©

I found Honeycomb seeds last year on your recommendation. Can't wait to see how they taste!
