On today’s episode of Gardening and Yap, we are planting more seeds, of course. But remember, I said I was going to come out here and reso some seeds um for the plants that look like they were struggling or not bouncing back. That’s what I’m going to do. And I see quite a bit of um flowers on these cucumbers. So, I’m picking those off because I want them to focus on getting bigger and not producing fruit. As I have said in other videos, um some of these cucumbers look like they kind of bounced back from transplant shock and also um sun damage. They look like they are trying to do something. So, I’m not too mad at them. However, we’re going to go ahead and sew some seeds, extra seeds, just in case they don’t recover completely, um, and good enough to produce fruit. We have some seeds that’ll be coming up right behind them. Um, yeah, they’re not looking as great as I would want them to, even some of these melons. But, we’re going to do some seeds. Um, probably plant two more in a bag. And you know what I do to make it easier for me? If you haven’t seen the other videos, what I do is I go ahead and look for the um tag. I look for the tag and place them where they go, like the seed packets. So I can just go through and Yeah. See, this one don’t look like it made it. So I can just go through one by one and reso the seed. So we have pick a bushel cucumber. I never grown that but hoping it does well. This is called something cucumber on this side are all my cucumbers. It might be back here. No. Do I have an extra cucumber? These might be it right here. Market more. And what’s these right here? Something. So, I have all melons on this side, all cucumbers on that side, and then on this side, there are melons and cucumbers. Garden Bush slicer hybrid. That one right there. Homemade pickles right there. National Pickling. National Pickling right there. Muncher right here. And then Garden Sweet Burpless. I think that’s this one. And then pawn set 76. I’m not even sure if I sold this one, but I grabbed it just in case. I think I may have pawn set. Nope. That one’s market more 76 cucumbers. What’s this one? Ashley cucumber. And this is a pawn set or like pawn set? Yeah. No, wait. This one? Yep. Right here. Pawn set. 76 cucumbers. And then I have the dark green zucchini. I think I do want to plant maybe one seed um to see how they do. But dark green zucchini, gray zucchini. Then I have a squash, summer squash, Dixie hybrid, summer squash, and early prolific straight neck squash. We going to put that there. We got a lot of rain um yesterday and the day before. It was supposed to rain today, but it haven’t. So, oh, look at this mint. Looks like it’s doing good back here. Hello. Onions looking good. I am hoping for a successful onion harvest. I’m supposed to be sewing seeds, right? But I’m over here minding my onion business. We have this. I also ended up, if you haven’t watched the other one, I did do the individual bags with beans. Oh my god. Is that a bean that germinated? Yes. My first bean germination. What’s that? Uh, California black pea. Cow pee is my first bean germination look like. So, I’m not mad at that. Okay. It’s right there. Um, this bag I have a lily growing out of it. That is interesting. It’s It’s interesting. Babe, look. You see the lily? You can’t see it. The green. Oh, you have to come all the way over. You see it in the back? I have no idea how that lily is growing from that bag, but we’re going to leave it. But what I was saying about the beans, if you didn’t know, I sew individual bags with beans, but then I also put some beans because they don’t they have shallow root system, so they shouldn’t desert um disturb the other plants. So, I put one at the edge of each bag to go up the trellis. And then I have some individual bags with Kentucky Wonder. Um I think it’s called Kentucky Blue or Blue Kentucky or Blue Wonder. It’s basically like a blue lake and a Kentucky um hybrid that’s over there. I did that for that. But we’re going to do some cucumbers. And I’mma bring you closer so that you can kind of see what I’m doing and what I have going on. Let’s see. We are going to be down there. We got lofah right there in the front. But let me zoom in so you can kind of see what’s going on. This is a garden sweet burpus. Um I’m going to probably sew a couple. Also, I see some roly polies. And their job is basically decomposers. Not decomposers. Yeah, decomposers. um they decompose the soil, the wood chips in the soil. So, yes, they are a pain when it comes to seedlings, but they do have a job in a garden like most insects. Um when you have small plants and things trying to germinate, they will eat the small plants. So, I think I’m going to probably set some traps for them. We’re doing national pickling. These two look really good. So, I’m going to probably only do one um just in case. And these are not my first. These are not going to be my only set of cucumbers. These will probably be my first set, but you know, they’re going to croak out. They’re going to get diseased probably or they’re just going to get tired. So, I’m going to have some backup to replace these so that I can have cucumbers all season long. But back to the roly polies. I’m thinking about um planting not planting setting out some traps for them. Potato traps. If you set out cut some potatoes up, set them out, it will allow them to feast on that versus your baby plants. So, we’re hoping um that that works. You can kind of Google that. If you type in like roly polies and potato trap, you’ll see some suggestions about that. We’re going to do two of these. Um, these out of pawnettas or I’m talking about ponettas. That’s not what they’re called. Pawn sets. Babe is on the other side of the camera. She is filling the grow bags. Remember I told you I ordered more grow bags to get more bang for my buck. I only needed five or six, but the better price was to order 12. So, I’m going to pot up, not pot up, I’m going to put the the fruit vines that I got and the berry plants in there. And then the other six or seven, I am thinking about growing a few more bags of beans, but specifically the black um black beans and pink eye uh pink eye, what do they call them? Pink eye peas. so that I can have more because I have 15 of each growing and limema beans of each growing currently. But I just don’t feel like that’s enough for dry beans. So, I want to plant some more. And I think that’s what I’m going to do um in one of those bags and probably do corn. I grew corn one year. I think we had maybe a ear, maybe a ear or two. I think it was like two ears, but it didn’t do well. And I’m pretty sure it was probably pollination that was a problem for the corn. So, I really I just feel like it’s not worth it. I can get corn for a reasonable price and I don’t want to take up so much garden space for corn. But if I have some extra, why not, right? I’ll throw some corn in there. I ain’t going to trip on them like that. I’ll put some corn in there. stuff. I have an extra bag or two. I always try to grow grow some corn. And they’re heavy feeders, so yeah, got to fertilize a lot. Hopefully it doesn’t rain. Hopefully, we’re able to finish these. I think we’ll probably be out here for about an hour, hour and a half max. And babe, huh? Babe said she’s going for an hour. So, I’m I’m good for an hour. Um, you know, I don’t want to be out here for a long time and sewing seeds isn’t long and I don’t have to reso a lot of them. You know, this is pretty easy. Homemade pickling. Yeah, I’m going to have to sew about five of these cuz they did not transplant well. They look like they died. I feel the air the the moistness in the air. I am pretty odd when it comes to like rain. A lot of people don’t know. Like I can smell rain and I feel like that’s normal, but I also grew up in Miami. Like I am born and raised from Miami. So we experienced a lot of rain and I feel like rain has a specific smell when it’s coming. Um I also can feel it in the air. Yeah, it smells like it’s going to rain. But we’re hoping for the best, you know. Hoping for the best. Hoping for the best. Also, babe have a few things to do in the garden. She We got some more zip ties for her to fix a couple things in this trellis cuz some of them um popped. So, she’s going to do that after she do the bags. And if we have, you know, the time, we’re going to reorganize the garden. Bless you. Well, not, let me not say reorganize the garden. We’re literally just going to move um some of my fruit plants. I think I want all of the berries along the gate. Um musketines and stuff. Like I want probably all of the fruit along the gate and then um that’s it. Like I just want to move the fruit because the musketines is grabbing on my tomato necks and raspberry. Like I Yeah, even though I’m not supposed to be growing musketons like that, hey, I’m growing it how I can at this moment. Um but yeah, we are doing the thing in the garden. Tell me why I think I feel a drizzle. I’m telling you, I got superpowers. I got superpowers. That’s all right. We about done with these cucumbers. I’m on my last cucumber, which is something. If y’all grew any of these varieties before, let me know. Most of these varieties I have not grown before, but I have heard really great things about like Market More. Oh, shoot. I put way too many in my hand. But I heard really good things about like Market More and stuff. And I was reading the description on a couple of these and they sound good. I did also get these. Most of these came from the place where I got my free seeds. I talked about it in one of my other videos. I think the video about with okra and beans, planting okra and beans. I told you all how I got the free seeds from the place. So yeah. Dang, I can’t put the seeds back in the pack. I am now officially done sewing cucumber seeds. And I think I’m going to drop one or two over there by those zucchinis. And if they all thrive, I would just move the plants. Okay. Even though squash and cucumbers, they do not like to be moved and transplanted. They don’t like their roots disturbed. But I would probably just, you know, move it somewhere so that they can continue to grow. I sewed all of those already. I also did herbs and things. We are going to move over here to this area. Let me go on that side. Let me grab some water. Yeah, I think so. What’s this? The Dixie. Yeah, I think I’m going to only sew two seeds. I have that habit of doing double of what I need because I am hoping that only one germinate, but if two germinate, I already told y’all I’m not playing. Dixie, this kind of looks good. I think I’m going to sew one for the gray zucchini. I’ve never grown gray zucchini. I see a little flower popping, but it it looks good. The um leaves are looking a little light-kinned, but no worries. I am going to fertilize this. Oh, look. My merry goes are germinating. Yay. Now, this over here. Good guy. We don’t know what’s going on. Is that another one? Something’s popping up in there. Is that a nertium? Probably. I don’t know. Hey, early And we like squash and zucchini, but I don’t know. So, say if all of these produce, cuz you know, one plant could give you enough for the season. If all of these produce, I don’t really know how we’re going to preserve. I know we can do some dried I probably only plant one dark um zucchini. Um, I know I can do some like dehydrated zucchini to still make zucchini bread in the off season, but other than that, I tried freezing squash. We didn’t like that. I tried to make a squash casserole. Let me not say I tried to make a squash casserole. I made a squash casserole. I I didn’t try. I succeeded at it. And um let’s just say we wasn’t feeling the squash casserole. We ain’t grow up on squash casserole. My daddy used to cook yellow squash, but he’ll sautΓ© it with onions and stuff and we enjoy it like that. But if we’re getting so many squash every week is we’re going to get tired of that. So if y’all have any specific recipes Oh, fried squash. I did see somebody fry squash. We might like that. Like batter it up and fry it. Mhm. But how much damn squash we going to eat fried and sauteed? We don’t know. So, if you got any good preservation methods or recipes for zucchini and squash, y’all let me know. I’m actually enjoying this little series I randomly came up with. Gardening app. Huh? My wife say it’s right up my damn alley. One thing about it, I’mma yap and I’mma garden. If I don’t do nothing else, I’mma do them, too. And being able to do them together. Praise them. Praise them pumpkins. I ain’t going to reso the pumpkins down there. Chase, please. I ain’t going to re uh sew the pumpkins down there because we got plenty of time for pumpkins. I started them pretty early, but hey. Hey. Hey, hey, hey. See, we are pretty much all planted in for the most part of different stuff. Y’all see the tomatoes and peppers over here. They look like they have started transplanting pretty good. So, I don’t have any complaints about that. But, I have officially resold all of the squash, zucchinis, cucumbers. Now on to the next garden task. I will see y’all in the next one.
