Just finished cutting out the sod against the fence and adding the boxes/steps this past month (other two boxes were laid in spring 2023). Next Iāll fill around the new pathway with pollinator flowersšø
Itās a long process, and thereās always more to be done but I try to appreciate the progress instead of tirelessly rushing things. Weāll probably continue digging up sod and expanding the garden again next Spring.

Looks fantastic! Itās inspiring to see your progress. I noticed the pics of the dead turf. Did you solarize? If so, are you solarizing one area, converting it and then moving on to solarize the next area or doing the whole lawn all at once?
I have nearly an acre of weeds parading as an ugly lawn that Iām trying to put together a plan to get rid of. Thereās so much to do, itās overwhelming.
Wow! Youāve created a beautiful environment š
Also, side note because I think itās funny: we always get crap from friends/family about our dandelion lawn, and although itās never really bothered us (the lawn or the comments), we always blame it on the previous owners, and truly believed it. Only today I learned, by looking at these ābeforeā photos, that weāre actually the ones at fault š
Check out Northwest Meadowscapes for native seeds! Also, hereās a great plant list specifically to support pollinators in your area!
