hi everyone I’m Eric and I’m Christopher and we’re grow for me gardening today we’re talking holiday gift guide 2024 Welcome to our office here in zone 5B 6A the holidays are quickly approaching so we thought we’d sit down with you and share some inspiration for some musthave Garden items that we love things that we may have already given each other actually and some things that maybe you would want to um share with the Gardener in your life so I have a list Eric has a list and then we compiled a few little more luxury items that we think you might be interested in so Eric why don’t you share some of the things on your list this year I will I have a little cheat sheet down here in front of me but my number one gardening musthave for this season which was an actual legitimate game changer for me were the no fly zone gardening pants from duth Trading Company with the knee pads that go in when I tell you being able to just like get on your knees and crawl around the garden and not worrying about a kneeling pad was a absolute GameChanger for me this Garden season I would not Garden without them I intend I have two pair and I will happily keep purchasing them and would 100% recommend them so it’s the duth no fly zone gardening pants and they have them for men and they have them for women they have a lot of really nice um gardening clothing options but this to me is an absolute go-to my second thing are the okaton pruners I love that they are lightweight I love that they make a great cutting sound but more importantly they are super sharp yes easy to use and very reasonably priced because we have lost pruners accidentally thrown out pruners um accidentally tossed pruners out when we’re doing compost like I’m not saying like an excessive amount of pruners but at least like you know four or five pairs of pruners over the years have gone missing and when you’re replacing them the okaton is a very reasonably priced pruner that I would keep going back to and I highly recommend them and they come in multiple sizes they come in small medium and large for the hand pruners there’s also the big shears that we’ve had big success with I think it’s a brand that we have worked with for the full season this year and we are really really happy with that should I keep going down my list well why don’t I put one or two it okay you put one off your this the first thing that I want to mention is actually also a snipper but it’s um a little pocket Garden snip that I found so useful all season long we ended ended up putting them in the little mailbox looking container that we have hanging off one of our elevated raised planter boxes and I found myself reaching for them the what they’re called pocket Garden Snips they have um they’re like neon green I think they also come in but they’re great for pruning they’re great for harvesting flowers they were great when I was trying to um clean up the raised beds themselves take off old leaves on things as they weren’t looking so good but I just really like them they were good size they fit in the hand well and they’re sturdy you know sometimes you get really tiny Snips and they just feel weak these I used them too when like harvesting the eggplant or cutting the basil like they’re they’re just very handy yeah I really liked those and also I would say this is one of those gamechanging kind of tools it was the tapener plant tie machine oh yeah um you know it’s it’s hard to stake d is it’s hard to stake your veggies as they’re growing up in Obelisk or even roses as they’re growing up or an obelisk and this tool just changes the whole game you know you tap it once and you see the little green string come across and you push that right through around the stem and the support and click it again and it Staples it together it’s not strong enough if it’s you know a heavy Branch but it’s perfect for staking as roses and tying in and tying in yeah roses dollas um in the raised beds as you know as you the beans are growing up the trellis sometimes a rogue Branch or a rogue Vine goes somewhere you just pull it back and kachunk it was so nice to have that this season it made quick work and actually I would say painless work of tying in the generous Gardener rose on our big Gothic Arch after many years I have finally found the perfect pump sprayer for me in the garden we have tried everything from the entry level $10 to $15 pump sprayer to the super expensive battery operated backpack sprayer nothing has been as easy to use or as successful for us with no clogging no endless pumping than the DeWalt pump sprayer we right now have a 2 gallon one it is heavy Duty it is doesn’t clog it doesn’t clog it is super easy to use the pumps are really efficient and it is priced very well now I don’t know how I’d feel if I got a pump sprayer under the holiday tree but I think that being a gardener I think we would all kind of be like all right I can use this yeah and for our size Garden it’s exactly the right size to do deer spray it’s a really good size for me to spray roses um you know with my captain Jack’s dead buug brew that I’ll do all throughout the summer months when the Japanese beetles Etc start to rear their ugly heads so it’s a really good size it’s manageable it’s not heavy and also you don’t have to pump it as much and it has a nice tip on it that really there’s a huge range of the spray it can be like very narrow stream all to a very fine Mist so depending on what you’re applying it really is versatile heavy duty and well priced I do have to say that you know talking about gifts for the holidays and we’re talking about a pump sprayer it is kind I it’s a it’s a must have for me for 2024 add that with the knee pads the other must have for me unquestionably is the ke’s SPF 50 serum and I love this what is the exact name of it the exact name of it oh my good I wrote it down it is the UV serum SPF 50 and I love this because it’s really lightweight so here’s how I use it it goes on first when my face is all clean I’m ready to go it is the base layer first thing every morning especially in the summer and it’s SPF 50 it’s super lightweight it’s not greasy it does not smell it does not burn our eyes when you’re sweating in the garden and and your dreads not getting in our eyeballs and burning it is really been a great introduction into my skin care regime especially as we are aging um it has really been a a game changer as far as Skin Health in the garden because it’s that base layer and then you’re always applying more SPF throughout the day so whatever your normal SPF face cream is that goes on top of this so then you’re like doubling up and really protecting yourself from the sun it’s a nice product it applies really easy you can use a brush you can use your fingertips but it’s a very good product and I think just the fact that it’s so lightweight and doesn’t burn that’s all I need and reasonably priced and lasts a long time we had I bought one bottle at the beginning one little pump bottle at the beginning haven’t even used the entire thing yet so I think I bought it actually last January for our cruise when I started using it so I’ve had that same bottle almost a year and I haven’t used and all so that’s pretty good yeah I think it’s reasonably priced goes a long way and Game Changer in the garden so from saving the skin on your face to the skin on your hands I finally found gloves that I like you know we try and try all different kinds of gloves you want to find ones that fit that are lightweight I actually would Garden without gloves if I could but you know you get stuff under your fingernails and it’s kind of gross so the NIT trial gloves from Garder Supply I really like them I have the large I think you have extra large yeah I need the extra large for my hands but they’re really good they’re um the night trial keeps your fingers a little bit drier which is good also I think it works um on our phones too yeah you can still scroll if you have to if you’re looking up a plant or you’re trying to remember what you were supposed to be doing for the day on your to-do list um so those gloves are really good the other fun thing that is right above our heads actually is the clipon adjustable grow light we have been learning about indoor plants a little bit we’ve been kind of experimenting and seeing if this is something that we want to take advantage of more so because Frederick and Freya our cats are tasters curious browsers yeah so I’m actually surprised they’re not here right now yeah they’re usually on our lapom and office so we’ve decided to turn our office into a bit of a a biophilic space so there’s some plants going on you see behind us but I’m actually going to just push the camera up and you can see those two foreheads hold on there you go those two grow lights now those grow lights are awesome because they clip onto the side of the container that you want to light up and then they’re adjustable they are adjust iable um light strength so you can turn them down a little bit which we’ve already had to do um one of our plants was getting a bit too much light and they’re on a timer so we have them off for 12 hours on for 12 hours that’s our first foray into the indoor grow lights and so far so good they’re also very reasonably priced so I think it’s a nice way to encourage people to bring plants inside some of these plants were out on our Terrace and we’re bringing them in and trying to keep them alive until next season and so far so good I think um these clipon adjustable lights are going to be a success for us two other mus have tools that I used extensively this gardening season very opposite ends of the spectrum the first one was the lifetime The Gardener Supply lifetime travel it is to me the perfect size it has a nice sharp point on it very comfortable ergonomic grip and it could get in anywhere in our garden and it was my goto travel very sturdy and because it’s a lifetime travel Gardener Supply will replace it no questions asked for the duration of the purchase or how yeah for Lifetime Replacements if anything goes wrong with it I love that it has that sharp edge on it and I think that’s what really helps helps you get in there there in the garden so that lifetime trial is my favorite and then on the other oh see I knew we’d have a visitor here um he wants to get on a lap oh you can’t see him but he’s here oh you see his tail um the other thing is this year we got two new vgo watering hoses they’re hose reels and they’re 100 foot long hose reel and that’s hard to find there’s some other really nice quality hose rails out there but they don’t come long enough for our garden we have a half acre and our house is kind of right in the center of it so to reach those Far Corners we need at least a 100 foot hose and these are high flow 100 foot hose reels that retracted very well yes they retract actually quite quickly so you really want to you know make sure that you don’t just let them go but they um they were durable they actually had the high flow is true like it’s a lot flow we did have one that we had gotten a while back that was 100t long but it really trickled it wasn’t as a and it didn’t retract as well so this is a great hose um it comes with everything you need to mount it we did ours on posts but they provide you with something to mount it to um a 2×4 or 4×4 or straight to your house yep they also sell um options to mount it into the ground on a metal post it’s it and they have lots of great access with it but it does come with like all the quick connects you need and it comes with a nice hose nozzle um I’d highly recommend it so the 100 foot and I think they have different sizes now yes they have some different sizes now and nice collor choices too love it so we’re going from the hose to something that’s also plugged in at the hose bib and that would be the yard enforcer which is a motion activated sprinkler it is the best deterrent for deer that we have ever had right now of course we’re out there spraying using that wonderful DeWalt pump sprayer but during the non-frozen time of the year we have this yard enforcer in our hydrangea room and in front of a hedge of invincible Sublime hydrangeas that would otherwise be deer food it’s heat and motion activated we have it set to the nighttime setting so once it’s dark it turns on and it makes a lot of noise and it shoots the sprinkler in the direction of whatever critter is coming to take it’s uh a nibble take a nibble now I’ve heard some people say that oh J get used to it and they’ll learn to avoid it and I would believe that except for the fact that Christopher and I still get spooked and scared by it because we forget it’s there so I have a hard time believing that the deer forget it’s there so I also I do think that the pattern changes a little bit like sometimes it sprays like right at you sometimes it kind like it starts in different spots so it does kind of mix up the pattern a little bit but we’ve been very successful with that yard enforcer I’m wondering if we may want to put in another one we just have to figure out I think we need another one on the east side yeah we just have to figure out how to hide the hose but that’s okay as long as it’s working where it’s working and if we get more we get more I love that yard enforcer also one of the things that we come back to time and time again with our front containers is this large garden ornament is what it’s called I found it on Amazon after we’d been looking and looking for just that nice orb shape trellis to go in the containers Eric had wanted one forever and ever so we just we we took after finding one so we found this in two sizes it’s great right now we have them out but once greens go in um probably in the next week and we start doing a different display if we don’t use them they lay flat and you can store them very easily oh using them I have a plan oh he’s got a plan yeah L berries around oo can we put lights on them too maybe battery operat so yeah that Garden ornament that was definitely something that we have loved all season a really good gift my two final items that I could not have gotten through this Garden season without the first one is the a gorilla card and I think the exact name of it is I think I have project spur right on my nose I see it he’s still on my lap and I’ve been petting him this entire time uh gorilla cart Evolution cart 10 cubic feet poly yard cart is the full name it’s lightweight it’s easy to maneuver it holds a lot of debris we also use it to transport things like we’ll load it up with our tools and use it to transport them before we start a project or if we get plants we take them out of the trunk put them in the cart we use it pract every time we Garden I think it is absolutely for us to get through the gardening season a must have we have two of them I would highly recommend them it’s a great gift I like this one because you can use it push style like a wheelbarrow or you can turn around and pull it like a cart with your hands down low you don’t have to lift it up really high to move it so it’s pretty ergonomic so you can actually you can move things that are a little heavier without as much effort yes and the other thing are my Danner waterproof boots it’s a brand called Danner they’re new to me this year and I kind of uh was thinking about getting some sort of lightweight breathable but waterproof shoe to wear in the garden that’s very supportive and this one checks all of those boxes especially waterproof to me is so important because when you’re dealing with the garden hose or you’re dealing with irrigation or morning dew on the grass just like starting those first few steps or chores in the garden and having the dry feet through the rest of the day is irreplaceable with really good support and really good grip so you’re going up and down the hill in the back you’re pulling things I don’t think I’d ever use another shoe in the garden when it comes to working other than the Danner 600 Mountain boot or the the other shoe Choice oh yes he also has um like a low top version that’s very similar but the it’s the Danner 600 Mountain boot those are the ones that I wear that have the red laces if and I even mow the lawn in them because you know when you’re mowing the lawn and the grass is green and stains your shoes like they’re great work shoes yeah definitely worth it part of our house plant Journey has been finding ways to make taking care of the plants kind of special and I have taken to every Sunday having the watering take place in fact the first Sunday of every month I take all of these house plants and put them in the shower and they all get a bath but one of our little luxuries that we wanted to share is this Haw one lit copper watering can I got this one from Eric for our anniversary actually it’s wonderful it takes me I think six trips to water everything but it slows me down actually and I really enjoy it and of course the Haw stuff it’s wonderful it’s very well balanced yes so those you know we have the larger cans as well that we invested in because they’re beautiful and we keep them out you know not the way that you leave a shovel out but these are gardening tool that are so beautiful and they’re very special so I enjoy that that Haw watering can comes in a set that has the my as well which I think I need to start instituting because there’s a few plants in here that prefer a little more humidity CIA needs a little yes I did oh we had the cathia up on top it got way too much sun it bleached out so it had to get a big haircut and it needs some Mist I actually saw a automatic battery powered rechargeable mister I am going to put that link in our description box along with all of our other things because I am going to tell him to buy it for me for Christmas and it looks like the best little tool to do exactly what we need just to mist a few little plants all right all right so that’s going to happen and the other thing from haw that has been on our list maybe it’ll be on his list we’ll see is actually called The Brass watering Lance it’s also by Haw it’s kind of the very elevated version of a watering wand you know a brass watering Lance which makes it sound fancy but and one of the things that make the ha’s products they’re they’re fulls siiz watering cans so special are the Ros is on the end and the Beautiful dispersement of water it’s not only gorgeous to look at but it’s gentle it’s evenly distributed it makes Watering your plants an event and this Lance does that for the end of your hose and so I think that it’s very worth giving someone who is just loves a moment in the garden to appreciate caring for their plants and finally we’ll leave you with a nice uh hearty gift a nice heavy bulky gift I thought this was so adorable this is called the catnap concrete pedestal bird bath obviously we are big cat fans here and it’s the cutest cast stone bird bath it has a cat sleeping at the base while up on the bird bath there’s two little mice playing in the water kind of you know when the cats away are sleeping the mice will so it’s really cute we’ve had great success with Camp International products withstanding our Winters their colors are even they’re well um dyed or painted it lasts indefinitely um we are fans of the Greystone color if you want a lighter whiter gray my favorite is the Alpine Stone because it has a little bit of blue in it a little bit of green in it we also have the black which is called near and wovo in the front of our house which is guaranteed to not bleach out in the song which is a nice oh I didn’t know it was guaranteed and they send you little touch-up pens and stuff in case anything gets chipped so yeah and this little bird bath it’s 22 in tall and it’s about 18 in wide so it’s something to tuck into the garden it’s small it’s cute and it’s about almost 100 pound so it’s a it’s a heavy gift yeah anything with the compania label on it you already know it’s going to be heavy duty and it’s going to to be heavy weight um but yeah I thought that was a cute little fun little garden luxury to end our gift guide with hopefully you found our holiday 2024 gift guide helpful and inspiring and maybe a little bit informative and entertaining and uh have a wonderful holiday season again I’m Eric and I’m Christopher and we’re grow for me gardening thanks for growing with us 1. Nice gift suggestion list! I'm wondering what color your walls are painted? And I really like that you painted the ceiling too!

  2. These are great ideas!! I am a huge fan of Kiehl’s skincare products, but somehow missed that they had this sunscreen. I am gifting myself this right away!!! I also want to try those grow lights – they look easy to use and stylish. Lots of fantastic ideas – thanks so much. 💙

  3. Thank you!! Wonderful gift ideas! Off topic question…can you share where you found the background for the thumbnail?

  4. I recently purchased the tape we at your suggestion and can’t seem to get the hang of it. I would love yall to do a step by step tutorial on using it. I have a few climbing roses and dahlias that I could really benefit from this tool
    Great list guys!

  5. So of course your Gift Guide is perfectly curated. We must be soulmates even though we’re 9b/10a! When you paced off the new bed with your 12” foot we howled because we do the same thing 😂 You’ve become a favorite show. Thank you for sharing your amazing gardens and your thought process especially your exciting new side yard! Now off to browse Duluth using your link – something fun for my Mrs! 👖🌿🎄

  6. I literally blew through a pair of gloves this year, the fingertips are worn through. But I suppose heavy gardening will do that.

I found an apron on Amazon a couple years ago and can't garden without it. Made of heavy canvas material and tons of pockets: one for my phone, a couple straps to anchor my sunglasses 🕶️ when I'm not needing them, a wide pocket to store measuring tape, gloves, debris found; a couple more where my snips and pruners go. Cross straps in back make it a full-body protection for my clothing. I may need to get another one as this one has been washed so often it's showing wear. 😎

  7. 3 winters ago, i was hurting for some green and growing things. When spring came i bought about 8 houseplants from walmart as soon as they came in and i have over 30 now. The green and growing plants REALLY help in the middle of winter's dreariness. I think you'll really enjoy them.

  8. Grid watering system link says 404 error. Cat nap bird bath isn't the right link either. Those are the only 2 I clicked on.

  9. This video content is awesome! So many unique and interesting options. I’m turning 68 in a few days and haven’t found a sunscreen that I can tolerate. They all seem to be so heavy. Can’t wait to try Kiehl’s! I have a question on the DeWalt sprayer. Can it be used for multiple uses (after rinsing) or do you recommend a separate sprayer for each product?

  10. Hello! I caught a few of your YouTube videos and really like your content so I subscribed! Looking forward to many more of your awesome creations🌲🌲🌲🌲

  11. That’s for the recs! I bought the orbs for myself after the first video where you showed them and I just bought one with your link for mom for XMas. 🎅 ❤ Love mine!

  12. Lazy girl here. Love my battery operated sprayer. I am in deer country and this sprayer is dedicated to deer repellent. The charge lasts a long time. Can’t attest to it not clogging though. I usually strain all my product before adding to sprayer as I mix the concentrate. All your recommendations are spot on. Looking at the Vego hose reel as I’m getting tired of hand reeling. Did I mention I was lazy? LOL.
