The Great Gardens of Cornwall have seen a record-breaking spring in their 30th year.

These gardens have been awash with “spectacular” Cornish blooms, rivalling the famous Chelsea Flower Show.

This spring has been one of the most popular seasons for the gardens.

The combination of record-breaking sunshine in March, followed by considerable rainfall in April, has led to perfect growing conditions within Cornwall’s unique microclimate.

As a result, people have been treated to breathtaking displays of colour, fragrances, and rare botanical beauty.

Charles Williams, owner of Caerhays Castle & Gardens, said: “This is the kind of spring we dream of, where the natural conditions are almost perfect.

“This is by far the best year for spring gardens in recent memory.”

Alex Goodyear, head gardener at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, added: “The conditions this spring have really assisted our plant growth, and goodness, we are now seeing the rewards from that.”

Among the star attractions are towering rhododendrons, countless types of camellias, the celebrated magnolias, exotic tree ferns, and historic plant collections.

This year, to mark the 30th anniversary, The Great Gardens of Cornwall have released a commemorative book celebrating the past, present, and future of these spectacular gardens.

There’s also a beautifully produced short film showcasing some of the custodians behind the gardens, including Sir Tim Smit and Mike Nelhams.

Nicola Bradley, head gardener at The Lost Gardens of Heligan, said: “To mark the milestone, we gathered all 14 gardens for a special, professionally art-directed photograph – the first of its kind in our history.

“This striking image, set within Trebah’s atmospheric walled garden, captures the people behind the plants and the unity that exists between all the gardens.”

As the season continues and half-term approaches, officials say that now is the perfect time to visit the Great Gardens of Cornwall – whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning fan.

The gardens will continue to be at their prime as summer approaches, so people are encouraged to seize this opportunity to get a glimpse of them at their best and help celebrate their anniversary.

The Great Gardens of Cornwall are eager for people to join them this year and be part of their record-breaking anniversary celebrations.
