I've has this dracaena fragrans for about six months and it's been fairly healthy. I've been watering it when the soil is dry and repotting when it gets too big. When I repotted it last week, a lot of the root system came off with the old dirt that I tried to get rid of. Now, I've noticed the stem going black, and the soil is staying damp.

What can I do to save this guy?

Note: the plant is indoors in an office and gets a good amount of ambient light. Occasionally I will put it in the window for a day to get more.

Looks like the roots dying off and then the plant being up potted caused root rot issues related to over potting and over watering simultaneously. It looks like its progressed to most of the plant too.

The soil mix matters too, this mix looks super organic and probably very dense as a result.

I think your best bet is cutting either the outline or the new branches and propping.
