Over a year ago,my coworker gave me this snake plant from her office because it wasn’t getting adequate light. I noticed it was quite loose in the soil so I pulled it out, which was quite easy and it barely had roots. I put it in new regular indoor soil and a deeper pot so It was more stable. I watered it every couple weeks and it got bright indirect sunlight. Months and months go by, and this thing still didn’t grow any roots and was still loose in the pot. I honestly just stopped caring for it and had it sitting in my bathroom as decoration for the remainder of the year. I even had freaking mushrooms grow out of it. Well today I decided to redecorate my bathroom and revisited this plant. It’s still exactly the same as it was a year ago. The plant itself looks good and feels strong and only one of the shorter leaves yellowed, but idk what’s going on. Literally all of my plants are thriving but this one is a mystery. I’ve looked up dead snake plants and they don’t look like mine lol

No if you put it in dirt and water it it’ll be fine.
You could probably put it in a dishwasher and it would still be fine; it’s shocking how resilient those things are.
It’s definitely not dead but new soil that’s more compacted will help. Mine grow pretty slowly usually but have had a pair propagating in water for over a year and they are thriving! Looks cool too
I love snake plants. They look beautiful and you could detonate a bomb on them and they would still be fine.
Firm maybe. Haha the root part might be completely dried out, but the leaf looks very healthy so it will sprout new roots. Just put it in soil and leave it be. (As little pot as you can fit)
Dead plants usually aren’t green 😉
Not enough water to promote root growth. Make sure its a free draining mix (lots of grit or perlite or whatever its a snake plant they’ll put up with anything) then water more often or perhaps more accurately water it more when you do water it, a good drench.
Oh yes, and stupidly small pot. They like that for some reason.
Not dead. Squish it in tightly in the pot and make sure the pot isn’t too big. They like to be root bound.
Very health in the above ground part. I think the bottom part started to rot but eventually dried out.
It’s fine! They like to be over crowded, so put her in as small a pot as you can, with drainage holes, lots of clean fresh soil. I usually use cactus soil.
They grow a lot in the spring, dormant in winter usually.
