A few of my visitors.

Yard is mostly natives. Pond is clay bottom pond i dug probably 15 years ago. About 6’ deep at center.

We have canadian geese with three babies currently hanging out in the pond. Along with the bullfrogs, crawfish, watersnakes, turtles, and some fish.

Frequent guests are the blue heron and misc ducks.

The hummingbird was in my Itea virginica the other day.

I have planted kore native plants in the pond and on the margins this year. Hope to boost the habitat a little more.

Itea is such a sweet little shrub! It should really be used more.

Congratulations, you did it, you won in life very nice

  4. The best part of going no lawn, hands down. I work from home and get to see hummingbirds posting up on my ribes sanguineum and wild rabbits sheltering under the choisya ternata.

How much land do you have? And is this a more rural area?

In my more suburban area, I can’t image getting this kind of wildlife given my small < 1 acre yard would be an isolated re-wilded area. But a man can dream!
